Great for Business Meetings

My nonprofit organization met at Charley’s for a lunch time business meeting. There were more than 40 members present. We were in a room at the rear of the restaurant with a scenic view of the river. It must be spectacular in the summer. There was iced tea and water available with some pastries... read more

While visiting Farmville this weekend we decided to stop in mostly because the name sounded so appealing. Chance to sit looking over the river, right? Wrong. Only if you sit outside will you even get close to see the river but that's ok. The place is pretty cool with a real old warehouse look to it. But the food left... More

My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary. We wanted to go somewhere nice. We had been to Charlie's before 3 years ago and enjoyed the experience. Tonight, we were seated on the patio while several Waite staff passed us by for twenty minutes at least. We finally got tired, hungry, and thirsty enough to go inside. We told the... More

I've lived in central Virginia for 13 years and have eaten and scores of restaurants. I was in Farmville on a Saturday and had lunch at Charley's. I have to say, overall, it was the worst meal I've had in Virginia. First of all, the service was awful. The guy waiting our table had zero personality. No smile, barely a... More

It was wonderful that we walked in to nicely decorated restaurant converted from a furniture warehouse. The venue is situated overlooking the river, to what must be a beautiful view in the warmer weather. The server advised us of the specials and took our order promptly. The French Onion soup was the "best ever" as my wife stated. The soup... More

Three generations of our family traveled from out-of-town to Farmville this month (Feb. 2015) to attend the funeral of a beloved uncle. About 20 of us met by accident at Charley's Waterfront Restaurant the night before the funeral, as a result of all of us having received recommendations from various sources that Charley's was the 'place to go' in Farmville.... The staff is friendly and accommodating; the atmosphere is fun with a large college-aged customer base, food is good and plentiful, good bar and comfortable setting.

My husband and I were traveling home by 460. We went off the exit and found this wonderful restaurant by chance. We will be returning. The service and food were delicious. Wonderful atmosphere. I had the eggplant sandwich and it was scrumptious. My husband had one of the burgers and it was delicious. Enjoyed everything about this place. It was... More

The food here was good and the atmosphere was indicative of the Virginia Piedmont. I ordered the deli sandwich of the day and the crab soup. I GOT a small side salad and a bowl of soup. The balsamic vinaigrette was delicious and the soup had good flavor, but I picked shell out of almost every bite I took. Another... More

Being the nearest available restaurant for a visit to the monumental Greenfront complex, Charleys is our default spot to eat in Farmville. And given that it captures shoppers by proximity alone, the food and service are WAY better than they have to be: it's a real pleasure to eat here and is reliably good in an out of the way... More
