great place to meet friends

We love to hit the bar on Wednesday night to enjoy the music of local (and super talented) guitarist Tray Epps and his wife Joanne. And the icing on the cake is the Thursday night special: pasta and salad bar. We always run into friends and thoroughly enjoy Tray's selection of music. The patio... read more

My husband and I met friends from Richmond about half way for both at Charley's Waterfront Cafe in early January. Made reservations for late lunch and were seated early. Our friends arrived and we ordered shortly after, Clubs, prime rib sandwich and hamburger, and (Crab)soup, The waitress was one that remembers your order without writing anything down,.All orders were correct... we live in farmville and have eaten at almost every restaurant in town, after hearing about charlies we finally decided to try it. the building itself is located at the other end of town in one of the greenfront furniture buildings. the building itself is quite nice although the tables and chairs are more like what you would find at... This is most likely the best restaurant in this town, but I have rated it based on all experiences. The prices are high for the quality of food and the building has seen better days. The atmosphere is more like a mid-ranged family restaurant then a higher priced date night restaurant. The food is ok but nothing great. The service... More

Delightful eatery in Farmville with a marvelously varied menu. All food is excellent and the "house specialty" carrot cake is to die for. From reception through dessert all the staff is friendly, kind and warm exuding a charming, sincere southern hospitality. The outdoor seating area is lovely although we've only visited during cold months and haven't yet had an opportunity... More

We had a lovely lunch on an unusually warm day in November on their deck. I had a great cobb salad with the best homemade raspberry dressing! Nice drink list and delicious desserts! And we enjoyed the music playing in the background!

My husband and I don't go out often and try to be economical when we do. We do not live in Farmville and Charley's is a little bit pricier than some area places, but not out-of-range for a special dining experience and outstanding food. It is worth the trip. The hot crab dip appetizer, roasted red pepper and crab soup,... More

I took my daughter there for her Birthday and they had a special called, date night. It was a great value and plenty of food. Great service and a nice place, but my biggest complaint my steak was overcooked. I ordered medium rare and got well done, mistakes happen. Other than that everything was great. I was stuffed, way too... More

I've been here several times. It's always great. The staff is always friendly. The food is always excellent. And if the weather is right, you can sit outside with a view of the river.

Had a late lunch of soup and sandwich after riding the trail. This is a warehouse converted to a restaurant. View of the water from the outdoor porch. Chili spicy thick and delicious. Onion soup flakey crust on top but onion in soup were very large so difficult to eat. Prime rib sandwich hardy and the chicken salad with grapes,... More
