Still great after all these years

We've been coming to this great Chinese restaurant for about 25 years. We were introduced by a Taiwanese army general. It really is as good as its reputation.

The dining experience was superb. Food, Service, Atmosphere were all great. While we didn't have the Peking Duck, it appeared to be a very popular dish. As the carvers were carving them at many tables in the area were we were dining. The area/neighborhood were the restaurant is located did not appear to be very inviting. Had we not already... More

My previous reviews still stand - excellent food, service, value, etc. This time we enjoyed a excellent crab and asparagus soup for two- full of large pieces of snow crab and vegetables. We shared the fried leek dumplings, which were very good especially with the addition of the hot pepper condiment. We then shared a Peking Duck, which it looked... More

Reminded me of Yogi Berra's comment: "It's so crowded that nobody goes there anymore." This restaurant is a well known "institution" in the DC area, with photos of famous people adorning the walls, including the two president Bushes and many other politicians, top military officers and celebrities. It is famous for its Peking Duck, carved at the table. I have... More

I have been visiting PGI for 30 years and it seldom disappoints! Their signature dish is a crispy duck carved table-side and presented with cucumbers, scallions, hoisen sauce and wrapped in a steamed pancake. The more typical dishes are a far cry from the hunks of fatty "meat" drowning in thick sauces found in tour neighborhood carryout. The kung pao... More

I use to live across the street from this place and walk to lunch or dinner, and thought of it as a neighborhood restaurant. Then President George Bush found out about it and started to go there, the prices soon about doubled. I do not go there nearly as much any more but still love the food and think it... More

I love this restaurant for the Peking Duck and the garlic sprouts. They are exceptional! I haven't found much else that I can't live without. You must try it!

This is by far a great experience every time we go. There are some things that are a must - obviously the Peking Duck - and then we can't get enough of the Beef Proper. the service is always wonderful and based on it's popularity you better have reservations!!!

My wife and I drove from Fairfax to enjoy a wonderful dinner at the Peking Gourmet. I'd been there back in the 80's and my wife was looking for some chinese food in a sit down restaurant and I'd remembered back in the day how wonderful this place was in a shopping strip along Rt. 7 not far from 7... Dined here with another couple. Food quality was way above most American Chinese restaurants, much closer to what you would get in China. Peking duck is itself very good (although carving would be much better anywhere in Beijing). Pancakes were outsanding. Other dishes were quite good, very fresh and not over-sugared or over-cornstarched. Service was friendly and prompt. Very crowded... More
