I have been a customer at Panjshir since it opened. I appreciate the fact that the owner remembers me even though I am there only a few times per year. Love the food, esp the pumpkin kadu; you MUST try it. Always suggest this to my out of town guests; no one ahs been disappointed.

I had never eaten Afghan food before eating here andhave come to love it. Although I have been to other Afghan restaurants since I consider this one the best and have been eating here about twice a month for several years. It is small in size with about 12 tables, and quiet enough that you can hear your dining companion... More

On a cool Saturday evening one expects a warm and inviting dining room - Panjshir's was chilly to the point that my wife wore her coat through dinner. The dishes we shared were simple, with simple ingredients, but were priced noticeably higher than other Afghan restaurants in the area (as was the entire menu). Finally, we usually fight over the... I eat here often and my only complaint is that their Awshak is so good that I don't get to try the other items as often as I might. The service is friendly and efficient and the owner makes certain that things run well. In almost thirty years of eating here, we've never been served a bad dish. All their... More

Been making occasional visits here as a special treat with friends. The food continues to taste wonderful, but the portion size is quickly shrinking and the service has gone from welcoming to annoyed. Our favorites include the kadu chalow (sweet) and the zamarod palow (savory). Skip the muntoo appetizer, though, unless you enjoy marginally reheated ravioli. The pricing has always... More

We dined here recently with 2 friends and all of us liked our dinners and were happy with the restaurant. Service was very pleasant and fast. Portions are small but that's okay, prices were pretty good too. Very attractive dining room for a place in a strip mall. We shared some crispy fried appetizers, I had aushak, my friends had... More

We liked this place. Give where it is in a strip mall, it's relatively elegant. An apple and lamb main course was tasty. Kadu (pumpkin) is one of our favorite Afghan foods, and we liked theirs. We've had better, but this was fine. The standout was the spinach side dish. It was light, tasty, and slightly spice. On the downside,... More

It is always a pleasure to dine at Panjshir Restaurant. The owner is very friendly and remembers his clientele. I enjoy taking people there who are not familiar with Afghan cuisine. They unanimously enjoy the food! My favorite dish is the Muntoo...

I just revisited Panjshir one day short of a year after my last visit. The little shopping center where the restaurant is situated has gotten a much needed facelift, and new businesses have opened as Panjshir's neighbors. Overall, the food is still very good at Panjshir, although the kadu (sauteed pumpkin) side dish was too sweet. Service quality at Panjshir... More

My last visit to Panjshir was maybe 12-15 years ago. This is one of the oIdest ethnic Afghan restaurants in greater Washington area. Recently, I was passing by the neighborhood and decided to pick up something for lunch. I chose the Quorma Pillao……a rice with thick tomato heavy based lamb curry and a piece of naan. This place may have... More
