Great first time experience

I had never had Afghan food before and had the opportunity to try it with a friend in Falls Church. It did not disappoint. I followed the servers advise and had a wonderful lunch. Nicely decorated, I will be back!

I had the lamb kebab. Delicious. I also had a pudding desert with cardamom. Excellent! We were attended to by the owner himself and also by a shy, young guy who was all smiles. I have been here a few times. Never crowded. Always quiet, with a nice ambiance to enjoy a dinner among friends or family.

I like Afghan food, and Panjshir's is not bad, but the whole place seems tired - from the staff, to the food. This may have been the place to go to 10 years ago, but as dated as the interior is, so is the restaurant. Service is slow, if tolerable.

Having traveled extensively in Central Asia (including Afghanistan), I highly recommend this as an authentic and delicious destination. Several years ago I moved to NYC and have been unable to find a comparable establishment there. Every dish I've had is fantastic. I love their lamb dishes and their awesome baklava. Even if you only want cardamom tea and a dessert,... More

I really don't understand the excitement of the reviewers. All cooked food is prepared way in advance in bulk, everything is stewed, decent but nothing to write home about. No mysteries, all comes lukewarm. You choose any one or a combo of the stew, the exact same cubes of lamb in heavy tomato sauce added to it if you choose... More

Our first visit to this restaurant exceeded our expectations. The service was great and the prices reasonable. We tried the Kadu Parlow which was outstanding in flavor and preparation. The baked pumpkin was topped with yogart and tomato sauce-- very tasty. The lamb was tender and the naan bread was excellent. Spinach rice is served with the meal. For desert... More

After reading the effusive TripAdvisor customer ratings, I expected to be wowed. Instead I got treated to a plate of grilled mediocrity. The beef and lamb kabobs were nothing special but at $17 they should at least be better than the $9 a plate at the mall. Go to the mall and save that $8. The one nice dish? Pumpkin.... More

A trip to Afghanistan in downtown Falls Church. Not a large place so it has a cozy comfortable atmosphere. The food is delicious. I especially like the dumplings. And they have carry-out!!

Stopped through here while visiting the folks in Falls Church. There isn't an Afghan restaurant close to us, so it was a treat. The food was very delicious, especially the vegetarian apple/tomato sauce entree. Service was good, the owner came over and talked to us, tea and dessert was tasty. A step above most Afghan restaurants I've been to. Looking... More

I have been a customer at Panjshir since it opened. I appreciate the fact that the owner remembers me even though I am there only a few times per year. Love the food, esp the pumpkin kadu; you MUST try it. Always suggest this to my out of town guests; no one ahs been disappointed.
