We have eaten in here once for lunch and it was good. Very recently we had the not so bright idea to get take out from here for dinner. While the food was absolutely amazing, we were definitely very frustrated by the petite portions (c'mon chef - it's mostly chicken, beans & rice ... Not filet mignon or lobster) on... More

We ate here on a weeknight so it wasn't as busy. If you want to go on the weekend then you should definitely make a reservation. Service was pretty good, though I believe much of that had to do with the fact that it wasn't packed. We had just watched the re-air of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives so we decided... More

I'm usually not very adventurous when it comes to dining, so when my wife suggested this place for Venezuelan food I was apprehensive... but what a pleasant surprise. This small eatery offered a cozy atmosphere and friendly service. The food was excellent, and the menu offered choices to satisfy even a picky eater such as myself. No problem getting a... More

Food very good, service excellent, atmosphere nice, especially if it's warm and you can sit outside. The arepas are awesome. I had the chicken with rosada sauce with big chunks of chicken, wonderful tasting sauce, and great cornmeal cooked just right. If I went back, I would probably get two or three arepas as the main course. The rice and... More

This is a great hidden gem in Falls Church. The food and drinks are delicious and authentic (as far as I can tell) and the busy staff keeps everything running smoothly! Tiny place so best to book ahead.

Our family had six adults & five kids so we were a noisy bunch for this little hangout! But service & food was perfect. Recommend the fried plaintains & that little jalapeño sauce... All entrees were served fresh and filled with flavor. Venezuelan food served by Ukrainians... So expect excellent chatter.

Yes, northern Virginia is a melting pot of lots of different nationalities and an amazing amount of cuisines, but a small restaurant doing an outstanding job of presenting Columbian and Venezuelian foods next to an old fashioned "motor court" in downtown Falls Church was still a surprise, and a most pleasant one. The place appears to be family owned and... More

Quirky little space for a great food experience. I haven't had much Venezuelan, but get the signature braised beef over rice w/ Avocado and a fried egg -- delicious. Definitely worth going back to. The location is a bit odd, but I'll take the savings in great food for not having to contribute to a large rent

First let me say, I am Latin American, and I've traveled to and lived among the Venezuelans; I know their food well. La Caraquena is set up in a dive hotel, so do not go there expecting a fancy fru fru restaurant, but it's nice and clean inside. It's a tiny little place that was packed full of people and... More

This place is really a gem. Housed in what would otherwise appear to be a seedy motel, the food is delicious. Im slowly working my way through the entire menum and I have never gotten a meal that I regret getting. Its small and cozy and the attention you get from the staff seems individualized. I like that it is... More
