The Truth About La Caraquena

I've read so many reviews that suggest a visit to La Caraquena is a kind of high risk, high reward type of thing that, after having dined there this weekend, decided to file my own review. I'd wanted to check out La Caraquena since I came across it while killing time in downtown Falls Church... read more

The place seemed disorganized. We arrived right on time for our 6:30 reservation for 2. We told the hostess that we had reservations. She told us she would be right back during which time two ladies came in behind us. When the hostess came back she asked us again if we had reservations then immediately the two women behind us... Boy what a great meal. I ate so much I was stuffed like I have not been in several years, and that was all from an appetizer and an entree. We did not even consider dessert. The house margaritas are excellent, and really everything we tried was wonderful. While I may not stay at the motel, any of the reviews... More

This place is outstanding! As for Arepas, I prefer JP'S Favorite, Peluda, and Carne Mechada in that order. The Fried Yuca was awesome. I tried my nephew's Pabellon Criolla and my niece's Pabellon Caballo, both delicious as ever. The Las Vegas Margarita makes you wanting more just like the city. The Mangojito was my personal favorite. Although, I didn't have... More

As others have said, don't let the location fool you -- this restaurant is tucked inside a "not so hot" motel. It's very small so I'm guessing they can get very crowded at peak times. I was there on a Sunday evening with a group of 8 and we had excellent service. The servers were great at explaining the dishes.... More

Delicious food and very friendly staff! All kinds of arepas and other Venezuelan dishes. Don't be put off by its location tucked in to the first floor of a small motel. Yes, Guy Fieri has been here - don't be put off by that either!

Had dinner here in mid-July 2015 with my son. We'd seen great reviews of the place and are fans of latin food. We were not disappointed. Ordered one arepa and they were so good had to try another kind. That Pabellon main dishes are amazing and large. The drinks were very good as well, and on the strong side. Waitstaff... More

We're glad that you and your wife loved the Pavellon Criollo and Arepa. Our location is on the smaller side and can get very busy on the weekends and early in the week. We recommend you make a reservation to ensure yourself a comfortable seat. We look forward to having you both back here again soon. More

Overall I was very disappointed by this restaurant. I made a reservation ahead of time since I had read that it was small, but when we showed up they didn't have a table for us and we were told we would have to wait nearly half an hour. Annoyed, we decided to sit outside instead since there was no wait... More
