I have relatives in the DC area so everytime I visit, I have a need to go to Captain Pell's Fairfax Crab House. I started coming here when they were much smaller. For a family of 4 with 2 early teens, we were seated quickly. The waitstaff are quick and efficient. A fresh tray of Old Bay crabs came out... More

We had 7people in our party and paid an automatic18%tip for crappy service from Billy, who I believe is part of the family. He was slow, and generally uncaring about decent service. Crabs were teeny, teeny, tiny ! We won't go there again - worth the trip to Gainesville for better service and bigger crabs!

A Facebook Friend loves the crabs and go regularly. Since I have not had any blue crabs this year or last because of my travel, I thought I would give it a try. All you eat crabs for $24.99 seemed like a great deal. I should have known better. Blue crabs in October? Where are they getting them from. Service... More

My and husband and I were staying at an hotel just down the street and decided to try this restaurant....it is very casual and it looked to me like a lot of locals come here. Although the crab fest was going on, we did not try the blue crab just because were not interested in all the work that it... More

Like the title says, it's not on a dock but it's in my backyard. My personal convenience aside, I love this place. I go at least a few times a year, sometimes for a family meal when we want fried oysters, snow crab legs and steamed shrimp and HUSH PUPPIES, other times for large group gatherings when we get blue... We had so much fun at this restaurant. We looked for a place for soft shelled crabs before we got there. We decided on this place. It was fun. Loud, lots of crabs, busy and no cheap. We got a meal of deep fried soft shelled crabs, it was great. The service was great and there was lots of laughs...and... More

Ate here with my family over the weekend. The crabs were big and flavorful. We ordered a dozen crabs, should have ordered more but, it was on the pricey side. But, worth it. The place was hopping we got there a little before 5:00 pm and got seated right away. Mid way through our meal the place was getting packed... More

Crabs were not made to order- they came out about 5 minutes after we sat down and were overlooked- clearly bottom of the pot! Fried seafood was sub-par. Old frying oil- very greasy and some of the oysters were no larger than a nickel and overly fried. To cap it off, there was a very large and loud party of... More

We want everyone to have a fun and delicious time with us, so we apologize if your visit wasn't what you were hoping for. We take care to prepare all our crabs and fried seafood fresh, so if you received bottom-of-the-pot crabs that's definitely not up to our standards. We'll have a conversation with the kitchen to make sure we're... More

We go to this place on my wife's birthday. She grew up eating crabs in Louisiana. She loves the crabs there, so they must be good. I get the fried shrimp and oysters. Those are just okay as the batter isn't good. $120 for four people, that was only three entrees and we drank water. A bit pricey for the... More

We're honored that we're your wife's birthday meal of choice, Dwayne, but disappointed to hear that you don't love your shrimp and oysters as much as she loves her crab. Thanks for the feedback about the batter -- if you have suggestions for how we could really kick it up a notch we'd love it if you gave us a... More

If you're in the mood to roll your sleeves up, eat some great crab, and enjoy family this is the place to go. As everyone dives in to the crab cracking experience, you almost need a pair of goggles as we had shells flying in every direction! We actually ordered the oysters last when we couldn't decide if we needed... More
