We went to Captain Pell's with my mom, cousin, and some friends to take advantage of their $29 per person special. It was a Sunday afternoon. The crabs were good. Good size. We had great service. The waitress kept bringing us plate full of crabs. It was worth the time and money.

The staff was OK, when we arrived the host pointed to the table for us to sit at; he didn't walk us over or ask us if that was a good seat. The food is plentiful, the portions are large and the price isn't bad. My only complaint about the food is, the fried food is too greasy. I had... More

Went here for fresh steamed crabs with friends last week. Holy cow! If you are a crab guru, this is where you want to go. This time of the year, since the Chesapeake Bay crabs and taking their winter snooze, Pell's fly's in their blue crabs from Texas and are they huge! But, you will pay a price to dine... More

For those who don't care for crab (me included) there are several options of mostly fried seafood. The name had kept me away but I'll be back. It reminds very much of the small roadside seafood shanties in New England--good fresh seafood, no fuss, no muss. Just good food and good fun. The place is incredibly busy and their staff... More

Capt. Pell's IS a crab smackin' kind of place. It's crab smackin' culture... We're talking brown paper on the table and piles of steamed creatures on trays. You're gonna be sitting on office surplus furniture from the 80s. Don't wear your 'Sunday Best'! This is a very informal, LOUD, basic crab joint that evolved from a roadside HOT CRABS kind... More

Family group got together for crabs. Old run down, nothing special. Crabs were cooked well, service was average.

We'd heard that this is the best place around to get crabs but we were disappointed with our trip there. It's just an unglamorous crab shack from the 1950s, unexpectedly so in tony Fairfax VA. The decor is rather dumpy, with linoleum floors and brown paper napkins. The menu is very limited and lacks one or two crab soups, a... More
