Red Hot and Blue is a full-service, casual-themed restaurant chain and caterer featuring delicious award-winning ribs, Memphis-style barbeque, smoked wings, and Southern sides and desserts. The atmosphere is steeped in legendary and contemporary blues music and delivers a large dose of Southern hospitality in a fun and entertaining dining environment. History: The first Red Hot and Blue restaurant opened in Arlington, Virginia in 1988, started by Lee Atwater, Don Sundquist and friends. Don Sundquist was from Memphis and served in the House of Representatives and as governor of Tennessee. The late Lee Atwater was an amateur blues musician and political figure that managed George H.W. Bush's successful race for the presidency. These men were friends who longed for authentic Memphis-style barbeque and great blues music. Unable to find that combination anywhere in the Washington, DC area they decided the only way to get it done was to open a restaurant of their own. The Memphis-style barbeque chain celebrated its 25th Anniversary in 2013 by partnering with a charitable organization at 24 different restaurant locations. The yearlong celebration culminated in the presentation of thousands of dollars in donations to local charities. The Name: The name, "Red Hot and Blue" is taken from the title of D.J. Dewey Phillip's radio show that that aired on WHBQ-AM in Memphis, Tennessee in the 1950s. This radio show launched the careers of Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash and broadened the audience for artists such as BB King, Muddy Waters, Robert Cray and Rufus Thomas. Red Hot & Blue Dine-In, Take-Out and Catering. Hickory-smoked Memphis-style BBQ, Ribs, Wings, Beef Brisket, Smoked Chicken, Seafood, Full-service Bar, in a Family-friendly atmosphere with a heapin' helpin' of Southern Hospitality!

We looked forward to a comfort food experience on a cold winter day but our lunch at Red, Hot & Blue was disappointing. The generous portion on the beef brisket platter was as dry as the napkins on the table. The restaurant itself was so cold that one of our table partners had to wear his parka. We appreciated the... The BBQ beans are the best! Food was great as usual for Red Hot & Blue. Appetizer was on out table in a blink of an eye. Really quick. Didn't wait on salads or dinner either. Great BBQ with excellent service.

There are so many Memphis memorabilia items on the walls that we felt for a moment that we were back in Memphis. Promptly seated and served. We tried Ribwich Combos. Your choice of a sandwich and your choice of two ribs. We got two pulled pork sandwiches, which were huge. We got one portion of wet ribs and one portion... More

I love BBQ. Whenever I'm visiting a new place, I try their version of BBQ. Yeah. This one missed the mark. I had a brisket sandwich and fries. The meat was rather flavorless. It was missing that wood smoked flavor and it was rather dry. They took too much fat off of the brisket and left it dry. The fries... More

This is on my way home from work or golf, so often stop for takeout when I'm "cooking"! Portions are ample, sauces good, and the Sweet Potato fries excellent. Don't overlook the onion loaf either! Eating in is okay, as service sometimes is spotty, and the outdoor patio needs a little work, but the food makes up for it. Still... More

Not sure what is going on here, but I convinced my husband to stop here rather than Dave's on a beautiful Sunday afternoon since they have sweet potato fries and Dave's does not. We asked for an outside table since it was a beautiful day (1:00 p.m.). We were greeted promptly and taken outside. The patio area is in serious... More

We have been going to Red, Hot & Blue for years and have even used their catering service. I also bring my ladies group there for dinner once a year. Our recent visit fell in line with all of our previous experiences. Very good food, OK service and a reasonable price.

Great "delish" food as always. The BEST greens side dish around. Tried the salmon and it was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Now the decor.... The place definitely needs a refresh; a little investment, to bring it into current times. It is not 1990 anymore.
