Description: For 18 years, The Blue Iguana has been a fixture here in Fairfax, Virginia. One of the first of the new school of Chef driven restaurants, The Blue Iguana was finally sold by it's first owners, whom have retired, to Clifton & Nargiza Wilcox in August of 2013. Two of Blue's longtime employees, Ian Purcell & Michael Leutbecker, have since taken over daily operations since the beginning of 2014. Ian & Michael are excited about the prospects of new ownership, new Executive Chef Jim Cernak, and our new amazing Creole-fusion menu. So come have a drink, come have a bite, enjoy the best SUNDAY BRUNCH and get to know our family of the great staff in Northen Virginia.

This is very convenient for late night drinks if you are staying at the nearby Marriott or Hyatt. Not much more of less than you would expect from you're average suburban bar. There is a nice outdoor patio area and sometimes they have a DJ at night.

You'd be amazed how good the food can be in a strip mall bar. But -- you WILL be pleasantly surprised. The drinks are ( normally ) strong, the food is consistently good, and food normally comes out VERY quickly. We've had the calamari, the beef sandwich, and some of the apps -- all quite good. The restaurant side of... More

After reading reviews about this place I decided to give it a try. I had just moved to the area and wanted to just relax and have a drink. Mind you my rating is based soley off of the bar experience as I've never sat in the restaurant side. First off, the bartender, Kathy, was very welcoming and introduced me... More

Despite sketchy reviews we decided to visit this place on a recent Monday night. We were pleased with food choices - an array of appetizers. We tried cat fish strips, pecan chicken fingers, a Caesar salad and fried brussel sprouts. Not exactly the healthiest meal but all very tasty. There was a nice beer selection and creme brûlée was delicious.... More

The menu is definitely on the Cajun side now. But there is still something for everyone. My wife had the crab cakes. All meat and no filler! They were excellent, but rich. You may want to skip the appetizers if you opt for these. I had the blackened Mahi with red beans and rice. It was very good, but heavy... More

We stayed at a nearby hotel for the 4th of July and walked to the Blue Iguana for early dinner and drinks. The weather was nice, so we decided to eat outside. Apparently, the servers do not serve you outside, so we went inside. Inside, the service was OK. We had a few drinks and ordered some appetizers from their... More

Have been here before for the Valentines Day price fix menu and wanted to go again for our anniversary for the regular menu and was very surprised that it was all Cajun food. I ordered the crab and crawfish binets but, they were out she said they sold the last ones at lunch. I'm wondering why they didn't make more... More

Went for lunch with a group of 12 ladies and had a lovely time. We were given our own room which was large enough to relax and not bother other customers. The menu offered a wonderful variety of soups, salads, sandwiches as well as full meals. I especially liked the variety of sides so if you didn't want "fries" you... More

I have been coming to the Blue Iguana on a regular basis for lunch, dinner, brunch, and their wine/beer dinners for several years. I agree with Red Hat Nana and others the Blue Iguana is not what it used to be when Tom and Bill owned it. I was there a couple weeks ago with friends for lunch. We were... More

For years the Blue Iguana was my "go to" restaurant and I went there a lot -- for wine and beer dinners -- brunch -- meeting friends, etc. I was always greeted by David with a hug and then by Helmut (a waiter) with a hug. Now that is all gone since the new owners have taken over. I met... More
