NYC prices, DC suburb quality

This place is merely average - overpriced for the quality. Checked it out, because I am a dedicated NY deli fan. Tried the pastrami on rye, which is the benchmark by which I judge any deli. No. Not even close. Pastrami was dry and stringy. Anything but melt in your mouth. Also had the chicken soup... read more

For us, Chuzpah's is the real deal. Every time we go. One of the best pastrami sandwiches in all of Northern Virginia. And the other NY dishes in the deli case are terrific too--chopped liver, genuine NY pastries, black and white cookies. Wow. Excellent. Maybe there are some inconsistencies in the kitchen ... so many TripAdvisor reviews are low-rated and... More

Not exactly a genuine NY Deli but it was pretty good. The corned on rye with Russian was tasty. The pastrami mot as much. But it was still good food for what you get in this area.

I had the organ donor sandwich , it was pretty good the chopped liver was good, maybe a little too sweet if i was being picky , but i really did enjoy it. As for the tongue, well it was good but the amount served was tiny. I was immediately disappointed with the amount of tongue , however there was... More

Went with my son to have a meal at noon on a Sunday, restaurant was full except one table which still had cups from previous diners on it. I sat down and waited for it to be cleaned, a nice girl came over and asked me if I could get up while she cleaned it, and I said yes, and... More

Very negative experience with the wait staff and manager over a simple mistake. They charged for a full ham "steak" side on a run-of-the-mill "ham and cheese" bagel. They wouldn't fix the order ticket and shamefully embarrassed my friend by forcing him to feel like he was being deceitful in asking for the ticket fix. Will never return and I'll... More

I enjoyed a recent visit. The sandwiches were not the over stuffed sandwiches that I associate with a good New York Jewish deli, but they were tasty. I had the combo pastrami and corned beef and it hit the spot. I had to try a chocolate egg cream and they made it pretty well reminding me of the old ice... More

I had not eaten here in a while. It used to be very good. But definitely has declined. They used to provide a bowl of coleslaw, a half sour and a kosher pickle. They still do. However, they are now tiny pickles and a small portion of slaw. Food was ok at best. But ham in the clam chowder at a... More

Me and wife went to Chutzpah on a Friday evening for what we thought would bee a good meal. I am originally from NY and loved the idea of a good, over-sized Brisket of Beef sandwich on rye with mustard. What I got was a sandwich that was fairly dry and pretty tasteless. I had to put quite a bit... More

the cole slaw and pickles that they serve as their take on "chips and salsa" is excellent. They have great cole slaw and potato salad. I sometimes stop in just to get these two items to augment my cooking. They have a great Ruben sandwich. The corned beef is made in house. Great flavors, lots of food. I also really... More
