The Auld Shebeen is Fairfax City's only authentic Irish Pub and Restaurant. In Ireland a Shebeen was an illicit drinking den, an after hours speakeasy where once inside people found good familiar conversation, drink, friends and great food! Fascinating history surrounds these shebeens that have always offered excitement for local patrons and will forever be a part of Irish lore. Our Menu is based on both traditional Irish recipes and American cuisine. Our house specialties include our Seafood Stew, Dubliner Stuffed Chicken and our Filet Mignon with Irish whiskey and green peppercorn sauce, with many others including many traditional Irish pub favorites like our Guinness Beef Stew, Shepherd's Pie or Fish and Chips. So whether it is a few quiet pints after work or a special evening out, here at The Auld Shebeen we will do our utmost to make your visit with us a special one. We feature live traditional Irish music every Friday and Saturday in the restaurant.

Great atmosphere and food

Our small group of 5 enjoyed it all. We had traditional irish dishes like fish & chips and corned beef, as well as non-traditional dishes like the brisket. We all enjoyed the food. We were there for about 5 minutes before we realized the music we heard was a live band in the front room. We all... read more

I've been here many times both upstairs and downstairs. The downstairs is always happening with college kids on weekend nights but the upstairs is much tamer and good for getting a drink someplace where you can actually talk.

We went out for dinner and it was excellent. The Irish stout burger was delicious as was everything else on the menu. Singer was excellent as well. Highly recommend for those looking for legitimate Irish pubs!

This place is simply a great bar to hang out in, have a few beers and food, and enjoy excellent music. Great staff. We enjoyed this place and will definitely return.

I have been there many times, mostly at the bar with friends. Last evening I took my son for dinner and we set in the restaurant area. I had brisket and my son had corned beef and cabbage. The food was presented nicely, was hot, and was served in a timely fashion. That said, it is hard to complain, after... More

This place was pretty good. They do not have their own parking lot, so be aware. I liked the shepherd's pie, but the gravy was a little richer than I typically like. The apple pie was not served warm, which was disappointing, but the service was good, and I liked the decor. I'd probably recommend it.

Love the new additions to the menu. Super friendly staff, and tasty food. Bartenders always on point and with trivia on Tuesday Evenings followed by Karaoke after, your evening is set for fun. Make sure to come when they have live Irish music playing, the owners are super friendly coming around.

This is a neighborhood restaurant and I have been to it twice. The first time was for the live music/bar and I did enjoy myself. However, the second time was just for dinner. I had the burger with fries and it was not particularly good. I would not recommend stopping in for the food.

We had been there many times, but not recently so we decided it was time for a return visit. Unfortunately it was a disappointment. Too much of the food, french fries tasted like they came in a package frozen and were thrown in the fryer. The cod in the fish and chips too...making it a very disappointing choice. Four people,... Firstly Sue I’d like to sincerely thank you for taking the time to write a review! Reviews provide an excellent metric in isolating our strengths and weaknesses. As we are a smaller family owned business we rely heavily on word of mouth and friends bringing in friends for our business. Sue, I’m very sorry to hear about the quality of... More
