I'm from Baltimore, MD and was visiting relatives in VA who took me and my friend to this restaurant. OK, I'll agree that from the outside, I might not have tried it if I were traveling, but it looks like a typical Mexican restaurant. The service was great, the food was terrific (I had the chicken tortilla soup -- the... More

The servers were friendly and attentive and we would go back. I had traditional Tex Mex which included a taco, enchilada, and chalupa. the pricing was reasonable. My work colleague got fajitas which were only OK. They give you two tortillas, where you would normally use three. I am not sure why they are scrimping on the tortillas.

We had decided to stay in Exmore to break our travel-up. Reviewed Tripadvisor to find someplace other then a fast food restaurant to eat and decided on El Maguey. Drove past the restaurant on our way to the hotel and from the outside I made a quick decision to pass on eating there. I mentioned to the person at the... More

We were told by a few different people to try this place. We ordered the fajitas for two. It was a lot of food that was seasoned alright, but there was very little beef or chicken, it was mostly onions and peppers. The service left a lot to be desired. Our waitress asked if we wanted more chips and salsa... More

What a nice surprise! First off, this place was packed! Had heard it was good but was concerned that it would be a huge wait. We waited all of 3 minutes for a table. The service is unbelievably fast and pleasant! Then there's the food. The menu is jam-packed and is a few pages long. So much to choose from.... More

This was our first visit and we will definitely return. Best Mexican food we've had this side of El Paso, TX! The staff were quick and attentive and really friendly. The real surprise was the birthday dessert with a song presented to our son-in-law - we don't know how they found out it was his birthday! It was a great... More

Place is small and food seasoned so as not to offend anyone..Pretty bland. Of course hot sauce available, but should have FLAVOR with out. Portions ARE filling.

I had wanted to try this place for a long time, so I finally stopped in for lunch. First of all, the service is excellent. They check on you many times during your meal. They give you free chips and salsa with your meal. The place is gaily decorated. I had the chimichangas (recommended by my server). They were very... More

Ate at El Maguey with a friend who had previously been there. We were greeted upon our arrival and immediately taken to our table where we received quick and friendly service. I was surprised by the size of my meal (enchiladas) for the price. What a deal, and worth every penny. Will definitely stop there again on my next visit... More
