Our 3 couples ate dinner there 7-16-2014. We all had fish dinners (Salmon and Mahi-Mahi), salads, and spiced shrimp as an appetizer. Salads were large, and everything was excellently prepared. Our waiter was great; the restaurant appeared clean. A nice experience. We will be back. Don't forget that on Wednesdays they have 1 1/2 lb. of steamed shrimp for $17.99;... More

Wife and I had a night away without kids and it was a great evening! Patio dining with spacing, we weren't on top one another. They had a guy playing guitar and it enhanced the experience, loud enough to hear but to were we could easily carry on a conversation. We had drinks and meals and it was $70 bill,... More

When it first opened there was great service. but alas, not so much anymore. The last two visits were poor. I don't know who trains the servers, but they badly need training on customer service. Plus, one would think a seafood place would have somebody that knows how to shuck an oyster.

First, we were given menus we couldn't order from because they were there for decoration. We each ordered an fried oyster dish... all the oysters were soggy. It was my dad's birthday so he complained about the quality of oysters and the waitress rolled her eyes. The manager did get him a new order of oysters that weren't soggy, but... More

We were a group of 5 and went to Riptides for dinner. The service was attentive but not overly. The food was delicious, hot and plentiful. The music was pleasant and not overbearing. Save room for dessert, they are all home made.

Riptides is actually an old gas station that has been converted into a great restaurant with both great food and appealing atmosphere / decor. They have daily specialties - Thursdays is oysters on the half shell - always fresh and tasty. If the weather permits, sit outside and enjoy the entertainment (musicians) and relax with a beer, mixed drink and... More

When visiting my mom she took me here for dinner. Food very good, service friendly and attentive - I love seafood so perfect for me others in my party who don't like seafood they had a great selection of "turf" foods. Everytime I would visit I would request to go here and every time my meal was excellant.

In the past we traveled to Richmond for excellent Sea Food Restaurants. However, the small town of Chester now has an first-rate restaurant that can compete with the best. The prices may be higher than the other food establishments, but they are still much lower than the “big city” eateries. The soft ambience along with the wide variety contained on... More

I have never had a bad meal here, but the lobster ravioli is one of my favorites. You also would be hard pressed to find better scallops, too. Atmosphere is lovely and if the weather is nice, the outdoor dining on the patio is great, too. If you haven't tried Riptides, you should. Great seafood!

The wife and I randomly choose this place from local seafood restaurants. Food was pleasantly good and service was awesome. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the nice weather.
