My husband and I used to come here shortly after they opened and enjoyed it each time. We moved away and I have recently returned to the area. Thinking of treating myself to a nice meal, I decided to try here based on past experience. It was busy when I walked in, so not wanting to take a table for... More

Stopped here for an early dinner, the fish tacos were excellent, our server suggested the seasonal hot apple cider, the perfect thing for a cold overcast day. Outside seating was available, even a patio heater for cold days. Would eat here again, even though it was a little pricey.

I ordere frog legs for an appetizer. They were over cooked. For my main, I had fish and chips. The fish was too greasy for me. The Bloody Mary was pretty good. The atmosphere was too loud as I couldn't hear the other people at my table. I expected a better meal and atmosphere for the price. I wouldn't go... More

Who knew you could find a great seafood restaurant in the middle of Virginia, miles from the ocean! Riptides is family-owned and staffed. Our server was the daughter of the owner. We went for a birthday celebration and really enjoyed the food, service and personal attention displayed by our server, Rachel. We went on a Thursday "Oyster Night" (Oysters raw... More

While trying a new route to avoid traffic between Richmond and Washington D.C., we asked for a restaurant recommendation at a Chester gas station and found ourselves at Riptides. This turned out to be more upscale than our usual road trip dining, but we liked the atmosphere, enjoyed the food and had excellent service. Lots of plants outside, what appeared... More

If the grouper was real, what I had in Mexico must have been chicken. Stay with local seafood if you want better food.

We are long time customers. Went in last Wednesday...ordered tuna and steamed shrimp. The portion of tuna was tiny and part tasted fishy. The shrimp were not huge but ok...so we thought. They did relace the tuna with a piece that was not fishy...just flavorless. Unfortunately, but of us got sick when we got home. I'll spare the details. What... More

You'll need to go on Wednesday nights to get their steamed shrimp special - nice size, nicely spiced, and a lot of them. Other meals the other 4 got were nicely prepared and good. Place is a little pricy - $7.00 for a glass of wine, and $8.00 for mixed drinks, but overall a nice experience. We sat on the... More

Loved the fried veggies and alligator bites. Portions were large, waitress friendly and quick, food delicious. My first visit but not my last.

We have been here before and the food has always been excellent. You know it`s fresh and not frozen like some popular chains. It`s a little pricey but worth the money. Just wish I could go there and not think that they are a bit understaffed. But the people there are friendly and know the menu well! Even my cocktail... More
