$12 Tuesdays

On a recent trip to Charlottesville, someone recommended that we eat at Maya's for their $12 Tuesday menu. A limited menu, this southern down home cooking place was great. Excellent Southern food, terrific service, and great with allergies. Good for business meetings or groups. They have an upstairs that works well for groups. The bar is always lively and the bourbon selection isn't half bad. The soups are delicious and the cornbread is so good you'll ask for seconds. I usually get fish and it's consistently excellent. Enjoy!

After seeing fantastic reviews of this place, I decided to give it a try. We made a reservation, an as soon as we got the restaurant the hostess got us seated. The restaurant has two sections, an outdoors patio which is very nice, and an indoor restaurant and bar which is quite rustic. The menu is not very long (which... More

This restaurant is always full...locals love it. It is almost across the street from the Amtrak Station, so convenience is a good part of its success.

We ate in the upstairs of this brick restaurant and appreciated the exposed interior brick. We were afraid that being by the University on a Saturday night would make things too loud and hectic but we felt that the atmosphere was good. The menu is southern; grits, catfish, mac & cheese etc. but has a finer note to it. Dinner... More

Last night we entertained 90+ guests for a pre wedding party. We had chosen Maya and we were not disappointed. The planning process was so easy and the choices for canapés and platters was varied and most of all delicious. We held the event on the patio. The covering was lined with lights and it looked beautiful and welcoming as... More

This is one of my favorite Charlottesville restaurants - from the location, the atmosphere, service and food. You can't go wrong here!

I grew up in Charlottesville when a meal out meant a "grill" or comfort food. I ordered a 4-sides plate. While the brussels sprouts were laced with bacon, I was told they could leave off the bacon, but when the plate arrived the bacon was there. Other than that the meal was good. The restaurant downstairs is a bit loud... More

Great food. My daughter had the ribs and I had the pork. We started with the fried cheese. Yum!! We shared the mud pie dessert. Again, yum!! Service was good and they were super friendly. If you are in Charlottesville, you definitely want to eat here.

I ate at Maya's while visiting a friend who eats there 1-2 times per month. He set my expectations high and Maya did not disappoint. We sat at the bar, not because the place was overcrowded, but because my buddy knew that the bartender, Ted, is a very entertaining character. My strip steak ($28) was probably the most expensive item... More
