I grew up in Charlottesville when a meal out meant a "grill" or comfort food. I ordered a 4-sides plate. While the brussels sprouts were laced with bacon, I was told they could leave off the bacon, but when the plate arrived the bacon was there. Other than that the meal was good. Great food. My daughter had the ribs and I had the pork. We started with the fried cheese. Yum!! We shared the mud pie dessert. Again, yum!! Service was good and they were super friendly. If you are in Charlottesville, you definitely want to eat here.

I ate at Maya's while visiting a friend who eats there 1-2 times per month. He set my expectations high and Maya did not disappoint. We sat at the bar, not because the place was overcrowded, but because my buddy knew that the bartender, Ted, is a very entertaining character. My strip steak ($28) was probably the most expensive item... More

I was visiting U of VA and had dinner here. The food was home cooking and delicious. Their menu has a wide variety and service was outstanding. Is definitely return. I had steak, potatoes, green beans and Mississippi mud pie. Sweet tea was also excellent!

We keep trying Maya and at last agree that this restaurant merits its reputation. Our server was helpful but not intrusive, our drinks and wines delicious, and our dinners fine in every detail. We tried Maya's Tuesday $12 specials. I especially enjoyed the options available to vegetarians by choosing a plate composed of sides, in particular, the sweet potato fries,... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here, with excellent service and loved the old brick walls and lighting to add a romantic atmosphere to our meal. Excellent wine selections that were unfamiliar to us. The beef is perfectly prepared and food choices show a bit of flare. We would return if we found ourselves in Charlottesville again.

Really enjoyed our meal and the service was superb. Would highly recommend Maya even in a town with a million restaurants.

Restaurant Week (RW) in Charlottesville generally brings out the best in area restaurants and this was the case at Maya where we ate upstairs. The wait staff was on their game and our server Josephine was patient, professional and infinitely polite, knowing not to hover or to intrude on our party of four. Two members of our party took advantage of... More

I asked the front desk at the Boar's Head Inn for a recommendation for family casual as I was in town for the weekend with my family including my wife, and two daughters age 12 & 14. He recommended Maya. We were able to get reservations at the last minute. We got a seat in a both at the bar.... More

We made the mistake of visiting this restaurant in the pouring rain. The entrance door facing the street was locked. Bartenders, Waitresses and other staff watched us for almost five minutes as we unsuccessfully tried to enter the restaurant in the pouring rain. No one informed us of the alternate entrance. The "instructions on the door" were so faint that... More
