Good but pretty expensive!!

Ate a late lunch with the family here. The parking was a bit difficult. We had to pay to park. Everything we tried was pretty good, just too pricy especially for lunch. Ordered one appetizer plus the main course and no dessert.

Four of us sat outside in the courtyard at Petit Pois. They have a small menu but a nice range of choices. I believe much of the food is locally sourced. The three adults loved our meals. This is not necessarily the place for an exceptionally picky eater, although they do have "frites." The host and our waiter were both... More

Stopped here for lunch when in Charlottesville. Had the crab cakes and steak frite. The food was good but it was expensive. My husband got the "best margarita" and it was below average and $12. Overall not worth the price.

Our visit to Charlottesville started off on a high with our lunch at Petit Pois. We settled in for a long lunch on their front patio overlooking the historic Mall. The waiter, Antonio, was outstanding. Not only were his suggestions for wine and entrees spot on, but he was so interesting to talk with as well. The frites were perhaps... More

I visited for a pre-theater meal and tried the steak frites, which was not at all bad. The steak was cooked very well, just past medium, as I had ordered, and was covered with caramelized onions. The accompanying fries were long and slightly curly, as the French do serve sometimes. The food was generally good, though nothing close to being... More

I tried the Chilled Pea Soup to start and was pleasantly surprised. I think I had the entire bowl. The Organic Chicken was good and came with asparagus that was cooked well. My husband enjoyed the Gnocchi. We had our daughter with us and arrived about an hour before close. It was not busy but we were seated at the... More

When the restaurant is super busy sometimes there is some neglect on the wait staff, however having been on that side of the fence, unless the staff is rude, I just enjoy my stay. That being said, some of the food is really delicious like the french onion soup and the pea soup. The lamb meatballs were delicious but the... More

Excellent food, warm wine, poor service. Both entrees very good. But red and white wines by glass far from cool. We told them when we ordered that we were going to the theater. We received our food 30 minutes later, only after inquiring about it twice.

Petit Pois is apparently the little sister of a more expensive French establishment called Fleurie. There is ample outside seating, while the interior is small and intimate. We experienced attentive service and excellent cuisine in this nice little restaurant. I skipped the salad option and ordered a delicious organic chicken entrée. The chicken meat almost literally melted off two small,... More

We had lunched a few years back and decided based on the vichyssoise to give it another - Soupe was wonderful and my salad frisée was excellent- I asked for an extra poached egg which provided "gratis". In and out in 45 min unfortunately they don't have expresso. Good spot on the main shopping street for a quick French lunch
