What a lovely midday meal we had during our first visit to C'ville. We stumbled on it while walking the downtown mall around lunchtime on the first sunny somewhat warm day in March. We sat outside--great metal chairs that rock back and forth! Service was superb. We shared a brioche with chicken liver--tres nice--and then I had the Crispy Skin... More

We ate here on a very cold Saturday night in between snow storms. The people ahead of us in line had called and left a message on the answering machine asking for a reservation. When they arrived they were told they couldn't be seated because no one had checked the messages. We did have a reservation because we had called... More

It was a cold Wednesday so we bypassed the outdoor seating. It is very much a French Bistro with a delightful wine list, good soup and bread (Gal #1 had the Lentil Soup and said it was delicious. Gal #2 and #3 had the Monkfish, beautifully plated over the spinach and decorated on top and bottom with braised slivers of... More

We recently enjoyed a delicous lunch here on a very cold Saturday. I warmed up with a glass of Cote du Rhone and a generous bowl of Bourride, a Provencal seafood stew - a buttery broth with perfectly cooked calamari, shrimp, scallops and clams, topped with their crusty bread. My husband enjoyed the French onion soup and the steak frites.... More

Went for Sunday Brunch. Shrimps with poached eggs, Pork chop 8/10. Selective Wine list is a great value. Friendly service. would go back.

The pedestrian mall in C'ville is just that. When I noticed the fountain, the outdoor seating and the shade, I suggested to my local host that Petit Pois might be just the ticket for a lovely light lunch. When I saw my god son taking a meeting at one of the tables - I knew I was spot on. The... More

As someone who grew up near the coast in Brittany, France, I have difficulty finding seafood (particularly shellfish) I like in the States. That said, the moules frites at Petit Pois were thoughtful. The outside dining area is nice and reminded me of Paris with a fountain right outside our seating area. Our server was attentive but not overbearing. A... More

Very pleasant place for brunch. Absolutely delightful brioche French toast. My wife ordered a tasty frittata--we shared both dishes. We have lived in Charlottesville for many years, and should have tried this place for brunch sooner. Excellent, attentive service, and a delightful setting on the pedestrian mall.

On a recent trip to Charlottesville which coincided with Bastille Day...what better dinner to have than a little French Place? Well guess again. No hint of the holiday to be seen and the food was as French as my Aunt Tilly. One has to say that the cold pea soup was lovely, tasty and refreshing. I do not understand pasta... More

My fiancé and I went here during Restaurant Week. He got the mussels appetizer, hanger steak for the main course, and the profiterole dessert. I got the arugula salad, crab cake, and blanc mange. First, the good stuff: the food was all quite good--the hanger steak was a bit chewy, but tasty. Crab cake was nice and meaty, and I... More
