Our family has enjoyed the Shebeen dinning experience several times over the last few years. Based upon our wonderful experiences, we selected Shebeen for the rehearsal dinner for our son. The team at Shebeen, lead by Megan the GM, took care of every detail and delivered an excellent dinning experience for 62 people. I can not say enough about the... More

Visited on a Saturday night that was crowded. Restaurant is dark with African theme, seemed a bit unwelcoming though with its location in a small strip mall and overall ambiance. Service was not very good; had to ask several times for water before I got it. Tables were quite close together. Waitress was ok but not too personable. Took a... More

Great food, lively atmosphere. Would eat here again. The owner of our B&B recommended that we eat here and we were not disappointed.

We ended up here quite by chance, and are delighted to have done so. The food was excellent, with a nice variety of selections - some familiar & others not, all with subtly different seasoning. In particular, I was delighted by the panko crusted eggplant, and the rack of lamb. The wine list nicely complemented the menu. Dessert was a... More

I haven't been to Shebeen in a few years so one night my friends and I decided to try it out again. I love the atmosphere but the wait staff was too stressed and the food came out cold. Maybe it was just a busy night but I don't think I'll go again.

Delicious food; menu has a lot of variety for different tastes. Different than other cuisines we've experienced. Fun ambiance. Relaxed, but nice. Friendly and attentive service.

Amazing coffee from local roaster. The brunch was delicious and very filling. A nice atmosphere with great service and overall a very good value. Everything we had from the bread to the entrees was excellent.

Its so nice to get a meal delivered to your table piping hot and delicious. South African fare is seasoned and cooked to perfection, salads and soups are bountiful and tasty! Convenient location within walking distance of the downtown mall. I really enjoyed the casual bar setting-perfect for watching soccer or possibly 6 Nations rugby!

If you only have time to eat at one place in Charlottesville this should be it. The fare is South African and provides savory dishes that fresh and different. The Durban chicken and the lamb are both excellent. We recommend the sampler appetizer for a nice variety. Not fancy but a very nice ambiance.
