Really, really good!

We've been visiting Charlottesville over the past five years while our daughter has been in school and have had the chance to dine at many of the better restaurants in the area. While in Charlottesville for a funeral, the out of towners picked Zo ca lo randomly and were very happy we did. The food was excellent, drinks were strong and the service was good. Found out the next day from the locals that it was a favorite of theirs too. I can understand why.

I had diarrhea and nausea after a dinner at Zocalo, at which I ate three sides and the bread. My husband shared all the foods I had eaten at lunch, but none of the food I ate at dinner in Zocalo's and he did not get sick. So it is most likely that the diarrhea and nausea I suffered from... More

We had no idea where to eat in C'ville so I pulled out my trusty Urban Spoon app and gave it a spin. This came up and looked interesting so we gave it a go. Zo.Ca.Lo is right on the pedestrian mall downtown and, as the weather was nice, we ate outside. The food was AMAZING! the Spicy Tuna Tar... More

The muscles are truly to die for. This is an excellent, Mexican fusion restaurant in the middle of historic downtown Charlottesville. You can sit outside or in - outside preferred if weather permits. Service was excellent.

That (YUM) is the word that will be foremost on your lips when you eat at Zo.ca.lo. Interesting menu choices, wonderful flavors, and a nice presentation, along with attentive waitstaff were all part of this dining experience. I ordered the chili dusted scallops, which were served atop tostones (fried plantains), with sautéed spinach and a carrot-vanilla sauce (I wasn't kidding... More

We've been to Zocalo a few times, the first time being a few years ago. After first time, I was raving about the duck entrée I had for weeks. But since then, we have been a bit disappointed each time. Our service was awful the other night. The waiter brought our wine bottle with the glasses, but didn't open the... More

We spent three years in Spain and frequently return. Not just me, but my entire family of four adult children and adult grand children. We really enjoy the tapas and the flavors of new Spanish cuisine. We all found our way into Zo Ca Lo graduation at UVA weekend at and found the "entradas" and "platos principales" to be very... We ate outdoors and enjoyed the street musicians. Our various dishes ranged from good to excellent. Special, though, was the service. Our food was late in coming - we were enjoying ourselves so much that we didn't notice that, but the waitress apologized to us for the wait and to make it up, the restaurant comped us a second round... Zo Co La bills itself as “contemporary Latin, with innovative visits from Spain, Mexico and South America. All very good. There were four of us for dinner. The two fellows had the excellent pork shanks – succulent and very tasty served on a bed of lentils. The ladies both had the pan-roasted rockfish on a crispy risotto cake and topped... More
