Love this place!

We were in Charlottesville for one night. Never having been before we decided to hit the historic district for dinner. It was restaurant week and quite busy. We walked the area looking at the menus and decided to give Zo.ca.lo a try. It was quite warm out so we elected to sit inside. Loved the... read more

Scallops were half cooked, one side was raw..at 27 dollars for 4 scallops I expect more. Asked for Not a frozen margarita and got a glass filled with crushed ice and barely any drink. Burnt potato disks under the scallops were bitter and nasty. Food arrived within a minute of ordering it and the whole attitude was to hurry you... More

Impeccable service, uninspired food and an undrinkable Mojito. The service was spot on and quick. The food was completely forgettable. And the Mojito was horrible. It was made by a "mixologist" however. That should have been my first clue that it may not have been my cup of tea. I'm a girl that likes a good old fashioned bartender behind... More

We were walk in customers and were seated outside per our request. Service was average but food quality was excellent and very tasty per our taste buds. Portion sizes were correctly sized IMO and beautifully presented. At first it seemed a little pricy but having tasted the food we considered it good value. We would eat there again if in... More

One of my all time favorite dishes. Perfectly seared scallops served over a fried plantain with a wonderful light sauce. Also, the gazpacho was amazing. And they make the best mojitos in Charlottesville.

On a warm summer night, the patio section on the downtown mall was really busy, so we chose to sit inside where it was cooler and quiet.! The steak, ducks, asparagus, polenta fries, and even the braised collards in both entrees were cooked very well and tasted amazing, but nothing compared to the bread pudding. It was made with manchego... More

I revisited Zo.ca.lo recently when friends were visiting from out of town. Surprisingly, even on a busy Friday afternoon we were able to get an outside table on the mall. The food was excellent - especially the spinach salad and for the entrée the broiled halibut. Soon all of the party of four were sharing tastes of the entrees -... More

We had a great dinner in a large party with kids and we all enjoyed the food but I would love to come back for a date night. Great drinks menu. We lived the cheese fritters and watermelon salad. Pork entree on risotto was great. Key lime chicken was succulent. Salmon was okay.

We've been visiting Charlottesville over the past five years while our daughter has been in school and have had the chance to dine at many of the better restaurants in the area. For this past Father's Day, we decided to try Zo.ca.lo. I hadn't been before although I had heard good things about. My wife and daughter had been previously... More
