Fresh local food, yum!

Just down the road from Monticello so we stopped in for lunch on Friday. Great sandwiches on amazing baguettes, wonderful local artisan cheeses and home baked goods. We would have tried the meat board but were too full, next time.

It looks like a little country store at the intersection of Milton St and the Jefferson parkway. Food was outstanding.

In need of a quick bite to eat after touring Ashlawn-Hghland and heading to my timed tour at Monticello, I stopped in at Salt Artisan Market, which looks like it might have been a gas station in the past. Where the gas pumps might have been, there are now picnic tables. I saw someone enjoying their meal at one, but... More

Had the croque Monsieur and chorizo sandwiches both fresh and flavorful. The sandwiches are made to order so be patient. Old eclectic assortment of furniture that reminds me of a schoolhouse/ farmhouse. It's across the street from a quaint episcopal church and in view of the grape vines.

We decided to eat lunch here while visiting Monticello. We were pleasantly surprised at how great tasting and fresh the sandwiches were. I had the Spicy Andouille and my wife had the Chicken Salad. We were both pleased. Good and fresh sandwiches.

Worth the diversion off the highway during a long road trip. Enjoyed the food -- definite step above usual options--and it was great to sit outside and have lunch with a scenic view.

The food at Salt is consistently good, and it was a pleasure to return. The sandwiches and cookies are all home-made and are just yummy. It is one of my favorite lunch spots when we have out-of-town guests. If weather permits, one can eat alfresco, which only adds to the enjoyment. I'll be back.

Easy to find on the road between Monticello and AshLawn at a 3 way intersection. Looks like an old gas station from the exterior with a large paned window so you can watch the chef create the magic. Limited parking and hours but well worthwhile. The interior is decorated so cute with that upscale shabby chic look. Limited seating inside.... More

This is a very nice place to stop by in your way to Monticello. Sandwiches are good with creative combinations. We tried a bacon, pear cole slaw and gorgonzola cheese panini, really good. No bathrooms, wine or soups.

Wow, tripadvisor's "near me now" feature really led us in the right direction after leaving Monticello and looking for a place for a light, late lunch. My husband and I each ordered a sandwich and bag of chips from the limited but intriguing menu. The place is small but airy and bright, with a few cute little café tables and... More
