We took a day trip from DC to visit Monticello and wanted to grab a bite ahead of time. I found Salt based on Yelp reviews and proximity to Monticello. The staff were very friendly and even brought the food over to nearby Jefferson vineyards where we sat out with a bottle of wine and our food. Great little salads... More

High quality food. The chef here obviously has a relationship with food and loves to share it. Before you take your first amazing mouthful, you need to have a camera handy. The food is beautiful and tastes even better. Minutes away from Monticello, this would be the place I would recommend people stop (you can have them pack up a... More

We planned our day around having lunch here, based on the reviews we read. So glad we did! The special of the day was a BLT with fresh-picked heirloom tomato and a Virginia bacon. Absolutely delicious! The decor was well- done vintage and the gal behind the counter was very personable. The only negative was that my husband would've liked... More

Convenient location to Monticello and Highlawn, limited menu but sandwich was fresh and tasty. Lots of outdoor seating. Nice option if you like the offerings of sandwiches or cheese platters that day.

If in the vicinity of Monticello, pass by the noxious, overpriced Michie Tavern and and choose Salt Artisan Market for lunch. It has a small menu of sandwiches, salads, soups and baked goods. Service is very friendly and quick, considering the quality of the fare. I had an exquisite blt with home grown tomato, lettuce, and thick, delicious bacon. The... More

We planned to stop here for lunch on our first day in Charlottesville after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor. It was more than I expected. Simple menu of sandwiches and salads and very friendly service. We were traveling with our 3 kids, one a baby so we were able to put down a blanket outside and have a picnic.... More

We stopped for lunch on our way to Monticello and Jefferson Winery. What a pleasant surprise. The sandwiches were delicious. Staff was friendly and helpful. Since it was Sunday, they delivered our lunch to the Jefferson Winery which was across the street so we were able to enjoy our lunch outside on the shaded deck at the winery--with a bottle... More

We just happened to find SALT as we were driving around to mark the route for the MS bike ride. This is a real cool place & the owner is a super cool chic! All sandwiches are made fresh and from local ingredients. Must try the dark chocolate bark - excellent. I like the other reviews in that it's definitely... More

We've driven by Salt a number of times while visiting nearby wineries ( Jefferson Vineyards is literally right across the road, and Trump and Blenheim are not that far either). While the menu us not extensive, it does have a variety of interesting gourmet sandwiches. The owner was happy to explain everything on the menu, and was of great assistance.... More
