We asked two very helpful local ladies for a good breakfast recommendation. They steered us 'across the tracks' to the Bluegrass and they were right. It was great. Not the least expensive, nor the fastest place for breakfast, but the food was good. We had the Hungry Norman and the Freight Train. Both were delicious and probably too much for... More

We went to the Bluegrass Grill at my wife's suggestion. Several folks had mentioned it recently. I ordered a breakfast burrito, my wife a spinach omelet. They had biscuits on the menu so we ordered them. We had our kids with us and they ordered also. After a moderate wait, my burrito arrived. It was thin and dominated by the... More

I think they have the best breakfasts in Charlottesville. Their veggie black bean chili is great as are their egg choices like Florentine with spinach which is only served on weekends. WE've eaten there several times & had a special which was a black bean burrito on the brunch menu. The wait staff is so so. You can get a... More

Blue Grass Grill was only about half full the morning we ate there. The door was open and a strong, chillliing breeze was whipping thru the restaurant. I wanted to sit away from the door but the waitress wouldn't let me have a larger table. Had to choose a bad seat or be cold. I asked if they could close... More

We LOVE Bluegrass because of the unique breakfast entrees they offer and the range you can chose from (spicy eggs, sweet french toast, etc). My fave: the Hungry Norman. We usually bring friends and family from out of town here for brunch, but you have to go early on the weekend--they fill up quickly and there is usually a wait.... More

You'll usually have to wait, but the breakfast is eclectic and delicious. Woman who might be owner can be surly, but otherwise always a nice breakfast.

They do have all of the standards, but they also have quite a large specials menu and they are special! Homemade corned beef hash, another dish with a chipotle hollandaise, etc. The specials are all creative and unique! Must go!

Good breakfast in Charlottesville is tough to find. As a result, there is always a wait outside as there is a pad of paper inside the door that you quickly learn to place your own name on. The omelets, cheesy grits, and biscuits are delicious, but the service is poor. With such a small dining area, customers sit and read... More

Sorry to have to write my first negative review, but I think people need to know. Waited 30 minutes for a table, but we expected that. Did not expect to wait 40 minutes after we were seated to finally get our food -- good, but not great, and not worth the wait in my opinion. It appeared that the kitchen... More

This is a great kind of hole in the wall place, with funky furniture, vinyal tablecloths and unfortunately no Blue Grass Music! The waitress told us that they play BG on occassion on Sundays! The wait here is rather long, but if you are wise, just step next door, at this wonderful coffee shop..bring something good to read and wait...... More
