Great breakfast at Bluegrass

This cafe has a couple of dozen breakfast specials. Anything with eggs that you can imagine, they have it. We had several with salmon for lunch. You won't go wrong here. We understand that weekend brunch can be very crowded, but we did an uncrowded weekday lunch time.

Great atmosphere. Unique menu items ("Dirty Frenchman" french toast with lavender and brie, breakfast sandwich with goat cheese, sausage, and jam!). Delicious results. Well worth whatever wait you go through to get a table. Stick to small groups and show up early.

Came here after seeing a fabulous Southern Living rating, waited, endured a wait staff that was barely courteous, only to have virtually every meal in our table of 7 to be substandard. Some even inedible. I love unusual creations. I love breakfast foods. This was terrible.

Breakfast here is a must if you are in Charlottesville. Breakfasts are unique, but still traditional. The potatoes are to die for, must try the bacon jam. It gets crowded and it is small so have to go early if you do not want to wait.

My friend who I was visiting wanted to take me to brunch, and she had heard good things about Bluegrass. We went before noon, and it was crowded (as expected). There was no host or hostess, which is fine, but it was unorganized with how the list was handled. The waiters also had to act as the host or hostesses.... More

My husband and I have been here both times we have been in Charlottesville and enjoyed it. This trip we introduced another couple to it and they liked it to. Will be back.

The breakfast food is good, though not as good as the reviews. It's the awful service that really sets this place apart, though. A rude manager ordered me out at 7:02 am, after their opening time, though the door was open, because she wasn't ready. Eventually, we tried the breakfast, which was OK. They have French Toast called a "Dirty... More

Went there and had good food; nothing exceptional. The staff were friendly and they had a small area for kids to play. I would not wait in line for a meal there.

Good fare. We ate a late brunch after touring UVA, so the family was famished. The meal tied us over till we made it back to Baltimore. Omelets were enjoyed by all. The Godzilla with toast hit the spot, its a meat lovers. Daughter enjoyed a spinach one and son had his normal ham and mushroom. Their has been some... More

We asked two very helpful local ladies for a good breakfast recommendation. They steered us 'across the tracks' to the Bluegrass and they were right. It was great. Not the least expensive, nor the fastest place for breakfast, but the food was good. We had the Hungry Norman and the Freight Train. Both were delicious and probably too much for... More
