Well, we've passed by this place for years, so we finally stopped in. The food was decent and not overpriced for thai. The building is a bit dated. I had the yellow curry and it lacked a few things - no basil and no pineapple-so it was a bit flat. The pad thai was decent. So, not bad, but not... More

We were impressed. Clean place, local family. Excellent wine and beer list. We had spring rolls, Chicken in Peanut Sauce that was the best we ever had. The jasmine rice is outstanding and comes in a "heart shape". I wish we had eaten there again instead of MAYA.

My wife and I love Thai food, and when we travel, always eat at Thai restaurants. When visiting Charlottesville (several times a year), we always make sure we eat at Thai 99 II restaurant (at 915 Gardens Blvd). It is always a great dining experience. My wife is partial to the Shrimp Hot Pot chef special. I have had their... More

We went to Thai '99 on Fontaine recently after not having been for a few years. I was disappointed in how much it had declined. The owner is away. I am not sure how long she has been gone but that may be a major factor. I recalled fondly the lovely gardens on the side and behind the restaurant where... More

This was a good lunch stop. I'm not sure that I would be happy here for dinner. The food was good but the service was a bit slow.

Delicious food and quick service in a comfortable setting. Plenty of seating for couples or groups, this restaurant is a great place to meet for lunch.

I have visited three of the local Thai 99 restaurants: the location near on Seminole just north of Rio Rd. is beautiful with great food. The Fontaine St. location is in an older building with less ambiance, but excellent food and helpful wait staff. I will not return to the Crozet location, Bangkok Thai, where about eight or nine of... More

I ordered papaya salad and it was overrun with sauce, almost drowning in it. My husband had dried beef, which he said was OK. Our main dish, a red curry chicken, which we shared , also was loaded with sauce. It was spicy, as we ordered it, but the flavor was lacking.

If you have a desire for pretty bad food, poor service, and getting short changed on a check, this is the place for you. To be fair, it is close to the university. There are too many restaurants in this city to waste time here.

Go there at least once a month service is always good and the food cannot be beat. Friendly staff and the owner is always in with a smile on his face
