What a gem

Thai 99 near Crutchfields is a gem. Several things on the menu from southern Thailand cuisine and a few things you don't see often. Like khao thom & baa mee hang or thom yum. Also had good tod mun kung. So some favorite street foods too.

....and we love Thai food! We gave our order....Tom Gai Kai soup....a large bowl, Variety order for two of appetizers and an order of chicken curried fried rice. The soup came with the appetizers and before we could put the spoon in the soup the entrée came...no place left on the table to put it and we asked to send... More

I eat here often. They always serve us fast and give us plenty of food. My favorite is the Pad Thai with tofu but I love the Mango Sunset too!

We decided to give this place a try. We were seated and served water, and thats when it became interesting. The waitress did not know the menu and I had point several times at the menu item. I had a coupon for $6 off when you purchase two dinner entres, but apparently there are multiple Thai 99s in our area,... More

Well, we've passed by this place for years, so we finally stopped in. The food was decent and not overpriced for thai. The building is a bit dated. I had the yellow curry and it lacked a few things - no basil and no pineapple-so it was a bit flat. The pad thai was decent. So, not bad, but not... More

We were impressed. Clean place, local family. Excellent wine and beer list. We had spring rolls, Chicken in Peanut Sauce that was the best we ever had. The jasmine rice is outstanding and comes in a "heart shape". I wish we had eaten there again instead of MAYA.

My wife and I love Thai food, and when we travel, always eat at Thai restaurants. When visiting Charlottesville (several times a year), we always make sure we eat at Thai 99 II restaurant (at 915 Gardens Blvd). It is always a great dining experience. My wife is partial to the Shrimp Hot Pot chef special. I have had their... More

We went to Thai '99 on Fontaine recently after not having been for a few years. I was disappointed in how much it had declined. The owner is away. I am not sure how long she has been gone but that may be a major factor. I recalled fondly the lovely gardens on the side and behind the restaurant where... More

This was a good lunch stop. I'm not sure that I would be happy here for dinner. The food was good but the service was a bit slow.

Delicious food and quick service in a comfortable setting. Plenty of seating for couples or groups, this restaurant is a great place to meet for lunch.
