Always a good time

During my long weekend in Charlottesville, I was able to enjoy very nice meals at some great restaurants, but this one was the best. The meal was delicious. We tried various appetizers, some cocktails, and starter courses, but the entree was the star--I had the beef tenderloin and it was cooked to perfection. I was sad that I was too... More

Lovely setting, I agree with a previous review that said "intimate and quiet", but I might have said "intimate BUT quiet". The tables are a bit cramped, but it is still very quiet, and doesn't seem crowded. The food is just exquisite; the menu varies, and a lot of the ingredients are locally sourced. The food is very fresh, and beautifully... More

The Old Ivy Inn Restaurant is in a 19th century house. Dining is in multiple small rooms, nicely furnished. We have been several times and the food is consistently good. We like it as a place to take out-of-town friends as it is quite and you can have a conversation while you dine. The food is excellently prepared and the... More

I've eaten here three times, twice in a group where we sampled a lot of each other's food. The food has always been very good and special, and the service has been excellent. It's a perfect blend of upscale and relaxed, and the decor and staff make you feel like it's a special night out without being too formal or... More

Nice place for a special occasion, but I can't see going here regularly as its just pricey for what you get. My husband and I got the lamb, very good, but honestly I was still a bit hungry when done. I would have appreciated another basket of bread with the meal, it would have helped. Seemed a bit cramped as... More

We made a reservation on Open Table for a Sunday evening dinner. We were seated promptly and our server was attentive. The menu is somewhere between traditional and eclectic. The soups were not too appealing, so we ordered the roasted cauliflower appetizer, which was very tasty. I had the Bibb lettuce salad and my husband had the mixed greens salad.... More

We took our son for a dinner at this well known restaurant. Beside the feeling of being cramped as the size is very limited, the food was excellent while I think a bit pricy however, many of the ingredients used are of high quality. The menu is varied with many items to please many tastes. The parking could use more... More

Dinner at the Ivy Inn was perfect from beginning to end. The atmosphere was nice...dining room quiet and an amazing menu. We had a difficult time deciding and were thrilled with our selections...the steak was one of the best I have ever had...the scallops were perfectly delicious. If your sweet tooth gets the better of you by all means go... More

We've gotten in the habit of going to the same restaurants in Charlottesville each time we visit. And while there is comfort in familiarity, we knew we needed to break out of our rut this trip. After searching online and reading reviews on TripAdvisor and ScoutologyCville, I booked reservations at The Ivy Inn. I didn't realize tables were available via... More
