Large group wine dinner at Ivy Inn was one great meal. The meal was well planned to accompany the wine. We were greeted with sparkling wine upon arrival. The food was excellent; the service, in spite of a large noisy group was very good. A memorable evening

My husband and I went to the Ivy Inn for our last night in Charlottesville. It was perfect. There was no seating inside, so we sat on the patio. I loved the patio. We ordered the crab and corn soup and squash soup, both were great. We also both ordered the trout, which I recommend. We were full afterwards so... More

We went for our anniversary dinner. The server was extremely knowledgeable about the food, the drink parings, and the ingredients. She made wonderful suggestions, and was attentive without being pushy. We got the pork and the lamb. Order it medium because the chef cooks it on the rare side of medium. It came out nice and red. The salad and... More

From the treat to get your mouth ready to enjoy, to the squash soup (not butternut squash--yeah) to the fabulous trout (able to order it without the buerre) to the lovely little treat to end the meal as we decided we were full and did not want dessert. The wait staff was welcoming and provided just the right level of... More

We're new in the area. Reserved for my wife's birthday based in large part on ratings on line and from my neighbors. Sadly, though the experience last night was acceptable, it sure didn't measure up to expectations. The patio was far from charming, and there was a table of family that included a cute, but loudly shrieking young girl that... More

We thought our first visit was an off-night, so we tried it again. It was another off-night. We're not going to waste the money to try it again. It's a lovely place. The service is passable. The food is not. The prices are sky-high, for what you actually get. One crabcake, nice lump crab meat, blandly seasoned ($30). If you... More

For our four nights in Charlottesville I had pre-booked two restaurants, The Ivy being one of them. We had a great meal, with attentive staff, excellent food and drink, and a strong menu. It was the first time I have eaten Bison, and it was excellently cooked. It is certainly not cheap, but good value for a top quality meal.... More

We ate twice at this location during our week in OBX and we were not disappointed. The seafood was fresh and locally caught, service was impeccable. Crab cakes, Mahi mahi and lump crab were all excellent. On our retrun trip we took my daughter and her friend, and they were equally impressed.

Lovely facility. Being a home/restaurant conversion, it has a quaint and homey atmosphere. Smallish rooms, friendly welcoming staff and our server was attentive but not intrusive. My crab cake was delicious, jumbo lump as it should be. My husband was not fond of a pasta dish he ordered, but it was replaced graciously and promptly, sign of successful management. Scrumptious Sticky... More

We enjoyed an intimate dinner with great service. The food was well prepared and fresh. The shrimp and grits were very different and tasted wonderful. We took others advise and ordered the trout which was excellent. The cream puffs for desert topped off the meal. The restaurant is located in a house and therefore, the small rooms are relatively quiet... More
