I can't say we had a bad experience but everything from the menu and food to the service was off just a little. The place seemed a little odd to us both and we will not be returning.

Been around forever. Nothing fancy. Solid menu, beer on tap. Friendly service. Stay away from the fish and chips. Burgers are best choice.

It had been awhile since we ate at Lord Harwicke's and we were looking forward to going there because of the variety of food on the menu and there being "something for everyone". First, at 6:00, there were only 3 occupied tables in the main part of the restaurant. Waitress arrived promptly and was never prompt with anything again. Fish... More

Lord Hardwicke's on Emmet Street has been in business so long that I can't remember when they opened. Although they have a British theme, they are basically an American restaurant / bar. The food is good, consistent and the portions are large. The service is on par with the price range and I've never had a bad experience there. A... More

We should have known by the fact that we were the only people there....at 6:30pm. It has been in Charlottesville forever but hadn't heard anything else about it so we thought what the heck...big mistake. Place is run down and in serious need of updates, had potential with all the rustic wood...but everything else has to go. Waiter was nice, nachos were... More

We've stopped here for lunch and dinner on occasion over many years to see a constant overall decline. The owner is not putting any money back in this restaurant at all. Worn carpet, torn booth cushions, old tables and chairs and dated decor. The entire restaurant just appears unclean both inside and out. Like to see the kitchen, or perhaps... More

Lord Hardy's definitely has its haters, but it is one of the most underrated restaurants in Charlottesville. I came here with an obnoxious girl, who became slightly less obnoxious by the end of the night because she was enjoying the meal so much. The bacon cheese fries may be better than the ones served at St. Maartens. The Hobo was... More

This restaurant is located within easy walking distance of the English Inn. Our service was excellent, and the crab cake sandwich was delicious.

We have been before and enjoyed it. Tonight was not good at all. We waited 45 minutes for our food and they were not busy enough to warrant that. When I got my food the barbeque was cold and had clearly been sitting out. The onion rings were very cold and chewy. Very disappointing.

I came here with two classmates from Fishburne Military School and their wives after the funeral of an instructor from the school we'd all had over 50 years ago. We had not planned on going to this place as one said "It's only a bar." That turned out to be one of the greater untruths of the years. We turned... More
