The owners have retired...:(

Sadly, Saigon Cafe has closed. The owner couple have at long last earned their retirement. We will miss their friendly smiles, conversation, and food. The spot has reopened under new management and is serving Chinese and Salvadoran food...not sure about that business model.

Saigon Cafe was one of the first restaurants we had eaten at in C'ville. We went while checking things out before we moved here and loved it. It was a Saturday. We went back after we relocated here and it was a Monday. Terrible. We were in the area a bit later, again a weekend and it was good. So... More

The Saigon Cafe is a small family run operation, with the wife out front and the husband cooking. Their lunch special is one of the best in Charlottesville with several Chinese dishes offered, including a soup (the hot and sour is great) a small piece of fried chicken, for less then $4.00. Their regular menu is very good and the... More

We just stopped by this place when passing through Charlottesville, Virginia and it popped up as an option on our navigation system. When arrived early afternoon, there were a few customers and one person serving. We never judge a restaurant by it's look and once inside, we found it to be outdated in decor but kept an open mind. Service... More

This is a good option for eat-in or take-out when you need a healthy meal. Their Vietnamese dishes seem very authentic.

The first time we went to Saigon Cafe it was amazing. My husband and I couldn't get over it. The service was slow, but the food more than made up for it and it was incredibly affordable (about $20 for the two of us including a beer and a glass of wine). We went back a second time and it... More

Pros: Fast service. Decent food. Cons: The food is very Americanized, but if you’re not Vietnamese then it shouldn’t be a problem. We’ve been very spoiled by great authentic Vietnamese food so we won’t be back to this place.

Food was bland, overcooked, and the flavors clashed. Generally I have found tripadvisor reviews to be pretty reliable, but I would never go back to this restaurant.

It was good a number of years ago but I haven't been in a while.
