Nice affordable meal

The wife and I had trouble finding a place to sit in and eat in this area, that wasn't very expensive. Luckily, we found the nook. I had the "flying Elvis" which I thought was great. The mrs had a vegetarian burger and she enjoyed it very much. We both are for under $20. On top of all that... read more

The Nook was recommended by our hotel staff. It has a diner vibe and has been in business since 1951-ish. They are known for their macaroni and cheese dishes. I think there were 10 or so on the menu, which was pretty cool. I found the food to be average, nothing especially memorable, not even the mac. It seemed kind... More

It was a pleasure to have breakfast here since we had such a poor experience at another restaurant 24 hours earlier. We went there about 10:30 AM on a Sunday morning and had to wait about 45 minutes to get a table (6 in our party). It gave us time to walk around the pedestrian mall, which wasn't crowded at... The food is just ok for the price, and the service left something to be desired...not because it was bad necessarily, but it just wasn't good. My beverage wasn't refilled when empty; I had to track someone down to ask for a refill. The setting is cool, though, and we were seated quickly. We could appreciate the history of the... More

We've eaten at the Nook numerous times over the years and found the food and service consistent. Average is a fair description of the food. Certainly nothing exceptional and don't look for any white tablecloths and candles. Today we had the BBQ meatloaf and the fried chicken. The meatloaf was somewhat over cooked with a hint of BBQ flavor and... More

The weather was great so we were able to eat outside. All of our lunches were very good. the mac n cheese was a hit with the family. The wait staff was friendly and eating outside makes for some great people watching. Definitely recommend this place for some good comfort food.

There are a lot of restaurants in Charlottesville, but we chose the Nook because we wanted regular American food. The Nook did not disappoint. They have fun mac n cheese combinations. It was a gorgeous day so we sat outside.

Walking up and down the Downtown Mall area on a Saturday night was quite challenging to find a place to eat. And there was the Nook!!! What a nice find this place turned out to be. Not a fan of the "chain" type restaurants that you'll find on the outskirts of the city, the Mall area if filled with local... More

This is a downtown pedestrian mall icon. The restaurant offers inside and outside dining. You can't go wrong if you order breakfast, soup, sandwiches or salads. Their soups are delicious. My daughter had the patty melt and she loved it. My son always gets the beast on a bun. And I always choose different things from the menu. I've never... More
