We did not feel like waiting an hour and a half at another downtown mall restaurant and stumbled onto the Nook. What a great restaurant! It is reminiscent of a 50s diner and the food is upscale diner food. One of the house specialities are Nook Macs - mac and cheese jazzed up. For example, I had the Buffalo Chicken... More

Last Fall, we ate the MOST wonderful meal at The Nook - Thanksgiving came a little early! Charlottesville, Va.'s, The Nook has a hidden secret - Thanksgiving Dinner - any time of year. We had roast turkey on the most delicious toast you could imagine, with a side of delicious mashed potatoes, all covered with fragrant gravy and served with... More

BLUF: Very fast service, good food, relatively cheap. The Nook is located in the downtown mall, so you'll have to find parking somewhere nearby and walk to it. That's never been terribly difficult when I've been around downtown Charlottesville. It's a nice, cozy little place. Couldn't have been more than 10 or so booths and the bar there, really. I... We dined at Nook one late Sunday afternoon. Our server was very attentive, checked on us several times. Love that the history has been preserved with the original tile floor, front windows etc. Large portions of food, so large in fact, that even my teenage son could not finish all of his catfish platter (though he did also have the... After a late New Year's Eve, we asked several people where to find a good breakfast in Charlottesville, and everyone recommended The Nook. We got there around 1:00 PM and the place was packed. We put our name on the list and were told it would be 40 minutes. We only waited about 20 minutes for our table. Our server... More

By far the most crowded restaurant on the walking mall. Eggs Chesapeake had unexpectedly good crab cake and nice remoulade sauce. Hash and eggs was just right, not too salty. Ham omelette was tasty but a bit greasy. Price was reasonable and service good.

The diner atmosphere is almost daunting. Waitress was sweet and attentive. Food was bland and tasted like they were cooked all together. My oldest son had the bistro Mac and cheese and he says it was bland. My second son had the falafel and he says it was pretty good.. He tasted a kettle chip and didn't care for it.... More

Had two good breakfasts here, unfortunately the staff forgot part of our order and still tried to charge us for it hence the four stars, but immediately took it off our bill once I had pointed this out. Perfect position on the pedestrian mall too!

The bacon is so good, you can skip most everything else and come out smiling. Omeletes are another excellent choice.

Charming old time feel. Food is average diner type fare, reasonably priced. Food could have been a bit hotter. Service was fine, our waitress very nice. It won't break the budget and will satisfy.
