I was part of a party of four and we had a great time with superior service and interesting and delicious restaurant week meals. recommend for everyone. Not the lowest price meal in town.

We recently had a delicious meal at C & O Restaurant -- a bit funky, just off the downtown mall, tiny little downstairs restroom, which is odd, but don't be thrown off by the "hole in the wall" appearance -- the food is excellent, get the grilled trout and ask for it without the sauces -- it is fantastic just... C & O Restaurant was our first choice for restaurant week. The food is always wonderful. And this week's special menu includes dessert. The service was outstanding. First we sat inside, then decided we wanted to sit outside. After a couple of sprinkles we returned to a different table inside again. The staff acting as if this was just the... More

Nice ambience especially the courtyard behind on a cool day. Food is above average but some what pricey. Nice place for a romantic dinner or special occasion.

We brought 35 of our closest friends here for a business presentation. The restaurant is remarkably old, a very antiquated building with plenty of character and personality. There is a huge bar in the basement, a restaurant on the main floor, and a private room at the top of the stairs. The room accommodates about 40–45 folks. The service was... More

I've lived in Cville off and on for 32 years. C&O has been consistently the best restaurant town over that period -- and it has been consistently great. Always inventive and always authentic.

This traditionally decorated, rustic restaurant offers excellent service. We were quickly seated; our server did a great job of explaining the menu. Our meals were just superb - amazing grouper and trout. My only cautionary comment is that the prices were a surprise. Based on "tripadvisor" we expected entrees in the $20 range. Instead, all the entrees were all in... More

This was my favorite meal of the entire three-day trip to Charlottesville. I love that they use local ingredients as much as possible. Everything we had was delicious, especially the trout and the duck. The service was good, especially considering our large crowd. The Torn Pasta and Brussel sprouts appetizers were very tasty. A decent wine list rounded out the... More

From the warm greeting until the last bite of dessert we loved our experience at this historic restaurant! We had been to the bar down stairs the evening before for drinks and had loved the bar- tender, the intimate setting and the cool atmosphere. When we returned for dinner, we had an even better time! The dining room was cozy,... More

The ambience of this place is incredible. They have a nice dinner service in the upstairs dining room (elegant, white tablecloths) but I really love their bar-- it's hidden down the stairs. They have a great cocktail selection, their staff is professional, and you feel like you're grabbing a drink in an old barn-turned-speakeasy. They are open late and have... More
