Charlottesville Classic

This is the spot for a fine dinning experience in Charlottesville. There is a great bar downstairs and dining on three levels of this old brick building, just across from the train tracks. The menu is full and varied. Great steaks, lamb, pork, all locally sourced and fresh. Seafood and shellfish... read more

We (myself and 2 girlfriends) visited C & O the evening of May 1st. There was a short wait, so we opted to sit at the bar. We ordered drinks and perused the menu a bit. The bartender was so fantastic, that we ended up staying at the bar for our meals. I have food allergies, and he was SO... More

Great food, and Service. I wasn't that hungry so I had the veggie platter. My date had the Steak Chinoise. I ended up overeating anyway. The details were covered, kind of like the way they do it in Nashville.

14 30-somethings, myself and my 2 sisters-in-law had dinner here for a bachelorette party. It's very difficult to serve such a large group but we were given our own room and a wonderful server who could not have done a better job. Everyone enjoyed the evening tremendously. My salmon, basmati rice, asparagus, and chocolate bread pudding were all terrific. I... More

A cozy little nook set amidst two torches - you would think you need a secret password to enter. Order the braised lamb - you will not regret it! Ambiance = A+

I am sure it is just a cultural thing and this was our first visit to the USA, but I did not like the way they brought our main courses while we were still eating our starters. I cannot fault the food, which was excellent, and our server was very gracious so this was the only downside. We did not... More

Lovely food, service and ambience. From the flowers on the table, to the charming waitress and the excellent food, this is the place to go to in Charlottesville. We were seated on the upper level with a view of the train tracks, which made the experience whimsical. Music was just right, with some golden oldies played at a subdued volume..... More

We have always enjoyed the C&O and that is why when our friends from out of town wanted to go with us to a nice restaurant we picked it. What happened C&O managers????? We have always loved the friendly energy and the overall great experience of the C&O. Last night we had the waiter from the Walking Dead. The dining... More

I have used C&O several times to cater meals and events. The food is always delicious and plated/displayed beautifully, and their staff professional. We also love to pop into the bar for light-night dinners/snacks and a cocktail--the old, small space feels so cozy and vintage C'ville.

We had two appetizers, one entree, two alcoholic drinks, and one soda. The cost was over $100 with tip. The restaurant is very noisy. The food is just good, not great. The tortellini was a special appetizer. It was very good, but the serving was small. I have no real desire to return. I'd rather try someplace different next time.
