Relaxing lunch under wonderful trees at the mall

A last snack in Charlottesville before continuing road trip. Hamiltons’ at First and Main called to us (was it the great table next to large tree in the center of the mall? the light playing through cobalt blue glasses on the table?) sitting under trees can be mixed blessings: a baby slug fell... read more

My husband and I on our first visit to Charlottesville and this restaurant was recommended to us. It is on the list for Restaurant Week so $36/per person for 3 course meal. Great food and the service was fabulous! The ambiance was very nice, an acoustic guitarist on Saturday night, very romantic and delicious! Great memories made. Recommend Beef Short... More

Shrimp and grits was mediocre. Shrimp slightly undercooked and not very tasty, grits watery. Crab cake was uninspiring. The special corn soup was excellent. They can do better, but food lacked prior excellent preparation we have experienced there before. Considering the cost of this meal and the reputation of this restaurant we were disappointed.

Great for an upscale meal right in the heart of the city on the pedestrian mall. Dining inside and outside available.

When we decided to pop into Charlottesville for a quick visit, our only choice for good eats was Hamilton's. Having been there a couple of months earlier, we knew that we could expect a good meal with great service. We were not disappointed. We arrived a bit late due traffic but, although their kitchen closes at 3 for a break,... More

We sat on patio as inside was frigid. Drink choices were unique and yummy. Food was good, not great, considering the prices. Nothing mindblowing so probably wont return

Hamilton's has been one of my favorite restaurants for many years, but not on my last visit. I ordered the "special" entree of trout, a favorite fish of mine. It was plated with a VERY small portion of a cold "salad" of what looked like garbanzo beans, some type of small green grapes & 4 pickled beet stems. The entree... More

We dined outside on a lovely balmy evening and were treated to great service, lovely drinks and quality food. Really recommend an evening here.

Friends and relatives were visting Charlottesville, and we had a good lunch at this place. Is it a place I would long for? No, but it is clean, reasonable and convenient.

While visiting Charlottesville, VA, we checked the listings in Trip Advisor and found this restaurant. After eating there last night, with friends, we were not disappointed. The food was delicious, the wait staff was pleasant and attentive, and the outdoor seating was delightful. This is the type of restaurant where you do not feel rushed so the table can be... More
