We had high expectations based on previous recommendations found here. I had the crabcakes (the most popular, I was informed) and my boyfriend had the trout special. Unfortunately we were disappointed, primarily by the menu, which we thought put standard "contemporary American" fare but together in odd combinations. The crabcakes with noodles and a mango curry sauce just didn't work... More

Me and my girlfriend decided to go for dinner at Hamiltons' based solely on the great reviews it had received hear. This turned out to be a big mistake, and I can only assume that the restaurant either manages to up their reviews through writing and rating on TripAdvisor themselves, or that other customers just happened to come on better... It was New Year's Eve and what were my partner and I thinking. We walked into Hamilton's around 7:00 p.m. Of course, they were busy. They graciously said that they could accommodate us at the bar, so we jumped at the opportunity. And the service from Jared and his wife was exceptional. We split two appetizers, a shrimp bisque topped... More

Met friends from the area here. We were pleasantly surprised. Service was quite attentive and the food was very good. Although my tuna was average, my husband thought his pork chop was divine. The wines were local and interesting. I didn't rate it higher because I saw nothing terribly innovative about the menu or entrees. Overall a very pleasant experience,... More

My wife and I frequently have lunch at Hamiltons' when visiting C'ville, and they always have excellent food and service. However, I would not recommend their crabcakes, finding them to be too dry and having too much filler. Everything else, including the wine selection, is outstanding.

a pumpkin soup starter that brought out satay elements with its nut and spice accents. Local craft ale on tap that is backed up by a decent selection of other drinks. Great mains to the point that every member of my party had food envy but wouldn't share because theirs was so good!

The atmosphere here was warm and inviting. The service was on point and the food was solid. To me, "solid" is quite the compliment as many other restaurants in Charlottesville are just fluff and no substance. Looking forward to dining here again!

I've dined here many times over the years and always happily and pleased. Also wrote a great review in the recent past. I had lunch today and ordered the vegetarian blue plate special...I did not enjoy and was not impressed. It had no substance and it was unpleasant having to deal with dried up artichoke leaves. Please take this dish... More

I have been to Hamilton's several times, actually every time I am in C'ville. It is so nice to know if you choose this place you will be served impeccable food with gracious service each and every time! Manager, Jarrett (sp?) cares about your experience....it shows.

It was an almost spring-like day in late November and were surprised to be able to snag a table for brunch without a wait. The menu was creative, well done and had a lot of healthy choices. The savory scone and chocolate muffin served in the bread basket were excellent. The egg tacos and daily frittata the same. Our server... More
