Price range: $0 - $10
Cuisines: Turkish
Dining options: Lunch, Dinner, Reservations, Delivery, Late Night
Description: We liked this place. See write up in C'ville newspaper: Turkish delight --- 29 North just past the intersection of Rio Road is an unlikely location for Charlottesville’s first Turkish restaurant, but Sultan Kebab—opened in part by former GM at The Clifton Inn, Deniz Dikmen—has been serving up authentic dishes like lahmacun (that’s a crispy Turkish pizza covered with ground beef, vegetables, and spices), hummus casserole, dolma, kofte, and kebabs (from adana to doner) from that very spot for three weeks now. It’s open every day for dine-in or carry-out from 11am to 9pm and serves homemade Turkish baklava and that addictively strong Turkish coffee or tea for those wanting an after-dinner pick-me-up. Sounds like a meal fit for a sultan.

This place is great. The manager is always super friendly. The food is really delicious, and they have healthy options, which is important to me. Highly recommended!!

This was my first foray into Turkish food and I absolutely loved it. The service was wonderful and everything we tried - especially the hummus - was amazing!!

The hummus is the best ever along with the homemade bread. Hard to find but well worth the adventure. The chicken was prepared to perfection. Will be coming back again when anywhere near.

I have been to Turkey, and this food is as close as you can possibly get without visiting the country! I'm also middle eastern myself so I'm picky. Get the hummus casserole, tea (black or apple), ayran (milk yogurt drink), Adana kebab...seriously, everything is good here! The service is great and I know the food is freshly made in the... More

Had midweek solo dinner here while passing through on business - located in a shopping center off a busy highway close to the airport, the restaurant was empty when I arrived at 6 for dinner but quickly added patrons while I was there. Went with a simple kebob platter, which was good though the lamb was a little tough, service... More

Went with family and had the combo platter so that we could try all the meats. Very good along with service and the wonderful desserts. Cost is average $10 but plan on spending around $15 when you add drink and dessert. Worth it.

Terrific meal for a large group in a small space with a family vibe. The owner/chef/maitre d' was helpful and patient and the food was terrific. The pomegranate molasses mixed into the salad dressing was delicious and the ground beef kofte kebabs were seasoned perfectly. The hummus was colored with paprika and delicious and a friend's shrimp casserole was quite... More

Small unassuming place with nice atmosphere. Obviously an excellent chef with attention to detail and an original take on every vegetarian item we sampled. Really good lavash veg sandwich with stuffed grapeleaves (!) as foundation inside. Taboulleh is quite unique and tasty. When we were there lots of satisfied customers with that quiet -- "this is our secret" vibe. Great... More
