Has Anyone Seen Peter Chang?

Judging by the crowded buffet parking lots, bad Chinese food is very popular in Charlottesville. If you want good Chinese food, there are several choices. If you want good, authentic Chinese food, there are a couple. Peter Chang's China Grill is mine. The menu is extensive and varied. It has that... read more

Most Americans haven't had authentic Chinese food. If you go here, you will come back! The Bang Bang shrimp appetizer was good, Grand Ma's Spicy pork was exquisite, the eggplant and basil in a clay pot was awesome! We didn't try the other wok cooked veggies, but they looked perfectly done. I suggest reservations, as the restaurant can get crowded... More

A co-worker and I decided to treat ourselves to lunch at Peter Chang's - something we do several times a year. In the past he food was always fresh and different with great service. When we arrived the usually crowded restaurant was almost empty. We were greeted and seated promptly and our waitress soon arrived. Obviously she was new as... More

We were not as happy with Peter Chang's on this visit as we had been in the past, and fear that they may be slipping a bit. We had one wonton and one hot and sour soup, both of them good but not outstanding. For appetizers we split a Bang Bang Shrimp and an order of "Peter Rolls", a house... More

I can't say enough about this restaurant. The menu selection is great, and the specials are eclectic. Meals that you won't see anywhere else. If you love spicy food, this restaurant is the place for you. Try the chicken with chestnuts stew. It is outstanding. Be adventurous and try something on the edge.

Went there because it got good reviews in the past. Upon arrival we were told they only can seat us in the right side of the restaurant, because on the other side the heat didn't work! Food was good, but overpriced. $10 -12 for a veggie stir fry. Wish they would offer brown rice.

Stopped by recently for lunch. Peter Chang's is located in the former Wild Greens restaurant, Barracks Road shopping center. For a recently opened restaurant, the interior had not been "freshend up" as restaurant walls still bore chair scrapes from former restaurant. We ordered Orange Chicken and Kung Pao chicken. The Orange Chicken as so bad I didn't eat it. They... More

Good chinese chef and great wait service. These people were so kind and accomodating given the circumstances of 19 people descending upon them en mass in an unexpected way

I've been to Peter Chang's China Grill probably a dozen times. This last time (on Christmas) was quite dissappointing. In the past, one of my favorite dishes was the Dry Fried Eggplant. Very crispy, wonderfully spiced, irresistable. However, that day, it was mushy and flavorless, too breaded. When the waiter came to check on us, I mentioned it, and he... More

Peter Chang is not new to Charlottesville. Several years ago he relocated to Charlottesville to open a small restaurant offering great food but on a small scale. He needed a breather from the hectic life. Very quickly the restaurant became extremely popular and it was buzzing with activity. This is not what Peter Chang was looking for. He packed up... More
