Excellent chickpeas, terrific chicken

Our World Culture Club ordered lunch from here and we all dug in! The kofta was tough which was a shame since I very much enjoy that, but the rest was delicious! The chickpeas (chana) were just the perfect level of spicy and the chicken melted off the bone, perfectly seasoned, and so tender! It... read more

I don't understand what happened for our dinner, but this restaurant didn't come anywhere near the Trip Advisor reviews we read. The Lamb Tika Kabob was tough and needed lots of chewing to break it down into something that could be swallowed. The bread (was it supposed to be naan?) that comes with the meals was dry and didn't look... More

Don't be fooled by the outside appearance of this restaurant. While the exterior looks like someplace I would pass by with no interest in trying, once you walk through the door it transforms into a warm, intimate, lovely restaurant with delicious food and awesome service. My son, who is very picky, chose this restaurant as part of his graduation celebration.... More

We came in a group of 5, ordered the dinner for 4 and had food left over. This offered lots of tastings and a congenial atmosphere of sharing. The lamb dishes are outstanding and DO try the eggplant. The service was adequate, but no better. We had to request water refills and waited for plates and dessert. No tea refills.... More

We liked everything about this place. The food was different and very good. The lamb dish we had was outstanding. I highly recommend giving this place a try. BYOB.

Very busy even for a Saturday night. Our group of 3 indulged in a variety of appetizers, all great, especially the Kadu. Mains were kabobs of chicken, lamb and beef. Not too spicy. Brown rice was perfect. Steamed spinach delicious as a side. Nan was fresh and plentiful. They allow you to bring your own wine, open and give you... More

I was in a rut. Charlottesville has a couple great Chinese restaurants, not to mention craft breweries and brewpubs, and they are my go-to places. But I needed to change it up a bit. Thanks to TripAdvisor, I found the Afghan Kabob Palace. Good call. The menu is pretty much the same as other Afghan restaurants I’ve been to, both... More

We loved the menu and the staff. This restaurant is close to John Paul Jones Arena and UVa. While they do not serve alcohol, the allow you to bring your own wine and do NOT charge a corking fee.

my husband and i have been here a number of times with other couples. we usually order the sampler dinner for 4, because it is a great value and, most of all, so very good food, with meat dishes, vegetable dishes and dessert. they taste very middle eastern, so if that's what you like or if you want to try... My husband & I decided to try this restaurant before attending a concert at Cabell Hall. We are not familiar with Afghan food, but found menu descriptions and a very helpful waitress made our decision easy. We had Borani Badenjan (eggplant) & Bolanee Kadu (turnover filled with butternut squash +) as starters and the spicey fish kabob & salmon kabob... More
