The bread selection was rather boring. The sandwich selection was good -- it would have been nice to sit down with a menu to go through it all. We simply were not overly impressed.

We started going to The Carving Board Cafe almost two years ago. It is our weekly stop for an ample and tasty lunch. The service is fast, and the sandwiches, salads, and soups are very delectable! Ken offers a great selection of breads and rolls to choose from, and all his meat is prepared on site! It's fresh, wholesome, and... More

After reading the reviews we expected more from this establishment. Steak sandwich was dry and Reuben skimpy. For the price you should get the chips thrown in. Look for somewhere else next time. The counter staff was genuinely friendly.

Understand my family and I were heading home to PA from SC and found this place en route home via TripAdvisor. This was last July! The fact that this review is a bit late is testament to the fact that we are all still recalling that day we stopped for what is one of the best sandwich places - period.... More

This is by far mine and my wife's favorite lunch spot in Charlottesville. My favorite sandwich is the chicken salad on kaiser with salt & pepper. Nice big chucks of fresh chicken (I think they boil the chicken) with a hit of sweetness. I think they use honey. Wife loves the Cafe Turkey on white. It's true they have limited... More

As they are only open for lunch. The sandwiches are generous and tasty. The fries are great. Get there early as there is limited seating and always a line after 12:15. We love their Reuben and Philly Cheese steaks.

This Is a local shop, perfect for a casual lunch, where everything is homemade. There is no table service, so you order and get the food yourself, but it is worth it. There is a big menu of soups, salads and sandwiches. I chose a roast beef sandwich on sourdough bread. It was probably the best sourdough bread I have... More

The person serving us was outstanding - what a terrific customer focus! Food was fine. But we had mistakenly expected more of a restaurant setting. Instead it's in a strip mall with little ambiance - just a few tables and an ordering board. Worked out fine - just different from what we had expected.

One of the best lunch spots in town. The salads are big and fresh and the sandwiches are simple but tasty. The counter staff are always extremely friendly, and even when the place is jammed packed with a line out the door, they still move quickly and get your food out in a reasonable amount of time. That being said,... More

This is the ideal lunch spot for a great sandwich, served quickly, at a fair price. Highly recommended.
