Being a local myself, I recommended the local to a group of older medical students that are new to the area and interested in the local food scene. I am mortified that I did. Long story short, our service was terrible and it took two hours to get our entrees despite the fact that we were clearly dining before and... More

We were traveling with teens so were looking for an energetic place with great food, including some less complex dishes. We ordered terrific entrees including salmon, veal, and filet. The kids really enjoyed their burger in this lively, busy place. We were there on Sat. night and were happy we had a reservation.

Food is good quality, just a little too expensive for what you actually get. Full bar some good house drinks, nice ambiance but the dining room is a little cramped

We had a very good dinner at The Local but we expected a bit better. The cheese board was delicious with a nice assortment of cheeses and accompaniments. The caesar salad was good but the house salad was disappointing. The truffled mushroom ragout was a bit salty. The sesame crusted salmon was outstanding and I highly recommend it. The waitress... I moved to the United States and Cville four years ago. The hostel where I was staying while looking for an apartment was in the Belmont neighborhood. The first night I arrived in my new hometown, the Local was the first place I stumbled upon. I sit at the bar and ordered a local beer and the local burger. Delicious.... More

Really neat restaurant in an old restored building in the Belmont neighborhood. Food and service always consistently very good. Food is local in line with the name which we like. JoAnn, a server who has been there since the beginning should be requested. She is the best. Our Son is in school at UVA and we eat here every time... More

We visited The Local for a friends birthday party, which was hosted upstairs in a private room. The food offered included something to accommodate everyone, from Vegan to Meat eaters. The selection of Wine and Craft beer was very nice. It took us a while to accommodate to the local craft beer selection, but we had a couple locals that... More

Great food in a casual atmosphere. Sit on the little terrace on a warm summer night and it feels like New Orleans while having some of the best gazpacho ever!

This restaurant will wow you with it's menu which is not at all pretentious but still very interesting and tasty. The entries are sometimes very down home but always with the freshest ingredients. We love the atmosphere which is captured in a very old building with lots of nostalgia in an area of c-ville that is being revitalized.
