Like another reviewer, Duner's was recommended to us by a local about three years ago and we just got around to trying it. What an outstanding experience. Located about five miles west of Charlottesville, the exterior of the building belies what is inside. The interior is elegant in its simplicity. Nothing fancy, but an excellent experience. For our meal, we... More

Excellent food. The very best. Small and noisy but worth the Waite. Very local and they all go there. Kind of the neighbor hood place to be seen,

Duner's is five miles out of Charlottesville and you cannot make reservations, but well worth the trouble. Our 15 minute wait for a table was made into an enjoyable experience with a cocktail at the bar. Dinner was excellently cooked and service was superb. Of particular note was the soft-shelled crab and the New York strip steak. While staff were... More

The meal started well. The place seats less than 100, so room is tight, but we were early enough to get a good table for 6. The meal had a large soup ordered as an appetizer and salad. The soup was outstanding. The scallops had a nice sear, but were somewhat less than cooked throughout. The taste was very good.

I had 2 fabulous soft shell crabs at Duner's. I've never had better...and I've had my share of soft shells! The place is very "intimate" and when it is full, as I've heard it often is, it's extremely loud. Other than the noise level, I had a wonderful meal. Get there early if you want to get a table!

My husband and I went to Duner's for our anniversary dinner. Our previous experiences had been extremely positive. I had the worst crab cake ever-- they were 2 over fried crab balls with bland mashed potatoes, watery cole slaw, and the most unappealing glob of tarter sauce. There was no color on the plate! Everything was beige or brown-- no... More

Yes, it does get busy and, no, they don't take reservations. So we generally have a late breakfast and head to Duner's for an early dinner when they open at 5 PM. That way we also get to sit in the smaller, quieter room, where it's easier to carry on a conversation in a normal voice. We're gradually working our... More

Great food & service. A little noisy. I had the beef tenderloin and my husband had the trout. Both were excellent. Desserts are worth the trip!

We live in the area and have always loved eating at Duner's. Bob has done a great job of bringing in good chefs and providing excellent quality food prepared in imaginative ways. Excellent wine list, with the house wine a dependable and affordable option. Love getting a salad with the entree and the fresh, warm bread is always appreciated and... More

We tried Duner's on the recommendation of a local. We spend several weekends a year in Charlottesville, as our daughter goes to UVA. We all agreed this was the best meal we have had in Charlottesville, a town that has many great restaurants. From the outside, one would not expect the gourmet menu and level of service. Be sure to... More
