Yesterday's News

From what I read and heard, this was good place. However, it is closed. Went to Blue Her on and shared a broiled shrimp and broiled scalloped dinner with my companion. We were both pleased with the meal, the service and the view. We'll be back!

So sad to learn that Charles City Tavern has gone out of business. My husband and I decided to ride down to Charles City Tavern as we have done the last 25 years for Easter Brunch and were sad to see the "For Rent"sign in front of the empty tavern..... We were so shocked and remember the great food and... More

In an attempt to contact the Charles City Tavern I found that the phone number listed on the website is no longer in service. Does anyone know if it is closed?

They had a set menu for lunch with several selections. I choose the crab cakes (2) and it included veggies, soup or salad and a desert all for $30. It was by far on the BEST meals I have eaten. Great atmosphere, service and food.

Tucked right off of Historic Route 5 in Charles County, Virginia is a gem of a restaurant. The atmosphere is laid back and friendly. I had the shrimp and grits and it was devine!

Charles City Tavern is a quaint farm house converted in to a very nice restaurant. Thye menu is limited but all items on the menu are very good. Service is excellent. Reservations required due to limited operating hours

Went to dinner at the Charles City Tavern under the recommendation of Candy, the innkeeper of the Edgewood Plantation. (She sends everyone there). The Charles City Tavern is a simple little place, with roaming cats and a bar. The chef is good, which explains the $50 average per person ticket. It is the best place to eat around and I... More

Chef Michael should be awarded for his skills. Great food, beautiful presentation. My Quiche came complete with a salad and an amazing house dressing, fresh fruit to include Kiwi berries. My husband ordered a pork sandwich with shoe string fries and it was scrumptious. We enjoyed every single bite of our lunch. We sat on the screened in porch and... More

WE looked up the menu online beforehand to see their hours and types of food. Judging by the menu, the cook has culinary school skills. We weren't disappointed. This is an house built on the foundation of an old tavern from the colonial period. The weather was mild so we sat on the back porch, which was screened in. When... More
