A Pleasant Surprise

I've been meaning to try this Thai restaurant for quite some time after hearing good reviews from friends and co-workers. The restaurant is tucked in a strip mall off of Rte 50 next to a laundromat, but don't let the location scare you away. The ambience inside is pleasant and the food is quite... read more

A group from our office went to Thai Basil for lunch. They sat us in an area where a few of us were directly in the path of folks going in and out of the kitchen. The server was very curt, not very attentive, and was unwilling to suggest items for those who had never been there. We had barely... More

Wonderful place for traditional southern Thai cooking. The signature Pad Thai dish has the perfect amount of spice and was thoroughly delicious. Of course you can't go wrong with the steamed dumplings, the Thai Iced Tea, and the Pad Khing dish was wonderfully hot and spicy. Once again Thai Basil did not disappoint. If you are looking for authentic Thai... More

We really enjoyed Thai Basil- the food seemed very fresh and the restaurant was clean. Thai iced tea was great as were both of our dinners- I had #53 which was shrimp and pineapple in a red curry and I got Mexican hot which was plenty for me, my only issue was the shrimp still had their tails so getting... The owner is very committed to providing the best authentic flavors of Thailand. Th food is quite consistent, and the atmosphere is great (We have actually been to Thailand). Try the curries, try the noodle dishes. The Pad Thai is world class...but don't get stuck on that American favorite. There a so many other wonderful options on the menu. The... More

From cooking classes we took in Thailand we learned that there is no Thai dish that takes longer than eight minutes to make. The preparation on the other hand is very time consuming. We had a wonderful family meal at Thai Basil. The many dishes we ordered came quickly and were all perfectly prepared. The chef has written some cookbooks... More

Great restaurant - accommodated the Gluten Free as well as the vegetarians in the party. Seemed really well priced as well. Would recommend.

I went to dinner there on a Sunday evening. Good food. Decent service. However I received my meal AFTER everyone else had received their meal. Would have preferred to eat with the rest of my group but the food was delicious so it was ok. It got crowded right before we left so glad we came when we did. It's... More

Staying at a hotel near Dulles Airport overnight, we decided to try Thai Basil. We almost didn't find it. I'd read that it is tucked away in a strip shopping center, but I had no idea how tucked away. Our GPS kept telling us we were there, but we could not find the restaurant amid the confusing warren of businesses... More

Our family has dined at several Thai restaurants and must say our experience at Thai Basil in Chantilly is disappointing. Mrs. Nongkran Daks is a very good chef, however, the tableware, the hospitality and ambience seem to disappoint. Our family loves spicy hot and our food was a bit too hot with red chilli powder. Having dinner on chipped table... More
