We enjoyed our meal at Poor Billy's. The rib eye and salmon were both delicious and the portions were plentiful. The blended dark and white bread was unique and tasty. We will definitely return to this restaurant when we want an upscale meal for a special occasion. It was a little pricey and noisy, but overall very good.

The place is located right downtown on main Street across fro Wells Fargo Bank. My wife had shrimp and grits which she normally loves. Their entrée was a bit too spicy for her taste. I had the Filet Mignon. It was superb, about 3' thick and done rare to a tee. They had a good selection of wines and beers.... More

The prices were in the mid $20's, which seemed a little on the high side for a college town. However, we enjoyed our meals! The portions were very big - so it was money well spent. Beers were $2.75, but the mixed drinks (were on the order of $10). Warm, fresh bread was served before the meal, as much as... More

Upscale menu, fantastic service... Perfect! The specials are always off the charts! Can't go wrong with anything offered at this place. We eat here weekly, and it keeps getting better. May not be the cheapest place in town, but remember, you get what you pay for. If the menu is too pricey for you, there's always a seat at McDonald's.

We were at Parents weekend at nearby Radford University when our son decided he wanted seafood, so our GPS led us to Poor Billy's. Although pricey for the area, the food was outstanding - Crab legs, Salmon, and Snapper were all fresh and flavorful - and I grew up on the Gulf coast so my seafood standard is pretty high.... More

Very good food, but very pricey for Blacksburg. Never had a bad meal there but the service has been hit or miss. Nice interior as well. Very good sushi, but there are other places that are cheaper and just as good in the area.

We live near the shore and expect a lot from a place billing itself as a seafood restaurant. We were impressed. Within minutes of being seated they asked us to move so they could seat a large party. We had not even ordered yet and it was no big deal. They bent over backwards for us. Everyone loved their food.... More

The steamed seafood appetizer for two was unbelievable! It was enormous and truly wonderful. It's too bad we don't live closeby (or even in the same state), otherwise we would go back again and again.

...I think it stands to reason that the most expensive place in town should have the best food in town. And as far as I can tell, it does. I immensely enjoyed two golden brown leek/ricotta/lobster cakes with very garlicy sides of kale and baked potato. But the price? Poor Billy's isn't just the most expensive place in town, it's... Blacksburg is short on higher end restaurants, not surprising in a small college town. Still, there is a niche for healthy quality food above the pub or chain level. Poor Billy's does not fill it. Menu items mostly over $20 do not match their price in quality, certainly not my over salted and overlooked Mahi Mahi. My wife's steak salad... More
