This place serves the best Thai and Vietnamese cuisine around. They use quality ingredients and the portions are huge (even at lunch). The prices are low and staff is friendly. The owner also runs the world food market (Oasis) next door, so he gets all of his ingredients fresh and sometimes local. Love this place!

Ethnic cuisine in Blacksburg is sadly lacking, so we were delighted to discover Cafe Mekong. Not much ambiance, but clean and attractive, with good Thai food and good complementary beers. Menu is very good and the food is authentic. The menu is not very extensive, but manages to offer a good variety for different tastes. Our children have tried and... More

It's a hole in the wall, located in a strip mall, but we like it. The food is tasty and fresh, the staff is friendly and efficient, and they have an excellent selection of beers and ales from American Microbrews, Europe and Asia. If you are looking for a homey, humble place for a Southeast Asian comfort food, this is... More

Coming from DC I discovered Pho was an excellent alternative to chicken noodle soup when feeling under the weather. Theirs did not disappoint. Spring rolls and chicken satay were also delicious. Friendly and fast when crowded.

We both enjoyed an early weekday dinner in what started to be a near empty restaurant and ended up being a completely filled restaurant. The popularity much be due to the combination of tasty food at quite reasonable prices. Although not the best Thai food we have ever had, it was quite good. Our Green Curry was spicy and hot,... Normally I disdain Asian restaurants that try to be multi-cuisine, but in little Blacksburg, it's to be forgiven, as the assortment of Asian restaurants is scant indeed. So Cafe Mekong has ThAi, Vietnamese, and even Korean. I remember the Fired Rice was decent on my visit a year ago, so this time I tried the Korean dish Japchae, made with... More

It can get a little busy during weekends and there is no lunch special in the weekends but the price is great compare to the other Thai restaurant in town. They serve plenty of food so we almost always have some left overs for home. Great place for students to go, meal is served hot and fast.

We were so happy when this place opened to bring us some new southeast asian flavors with fresh ingredients from the next door international market. I've had a Pad Thai that was a bit too oily once, but everything else was pretty good. I like their Penang Curry, papaya salad, and the Kalbee short ribs. The price is very reasonable.

The food is outstanding, as is the service and value. Interior could use a little love, but the food makes it easy to overlook.
