Good atmosphere. Good food: gumbo a pleasant surprise, salad fresh & crisp ... We do not usually enjoy the in-house restaurants, but this was forced on us by sudden change in weather: nevertheless it worked out quite well! Also wary of young servers, but the (presumably) student servers here were well trained & sincere.

We had a nice meal here a few days ago. We went for "Family Night," a $14.95 special meal, but never saw the menu. Our waitress was new, so that probably explains it. We were first brought their main, plastic-wrapped book menu, and then asked about the other meal menu and were brought a "Pre Theater" paper menu (I thought... More

We were able to get a "bed and breakfast" package as a part of a stay at the Inn at Virginia Tech. The breakfast offering is a buffet with the option of prepared to order omelets and eggs. This is the best choice. The other buffet choices are fairly standard. the fruit is usually better than most buffets.

Just some thoughts on Thanksgiving buffet. First of all: Food is very good. Our experience was compromised, however, by less than attentive service. Whatever staff on site seemed overwhelmed. Had to get up and get our own drinks, when going up to buffet tables, silverware would disappear but dirty plates remained, etc.while we were the last seating, half the buffet... More

We dined here on the recommendation of a VT faculty member after giving a presentation at the university. The crab cakes were excellent as was the supporting vegetable (a Brussels sprouts-based melange). The chef obviously likes to provide a variety of tastes and textures - and they do work. The sausage-based appetizer was another surprising and interesting taste sensation. The... More

The breakfast buffet was very good. High quality food with variety. The service was good. It is worth $12.

Great location but opportunity for improvement. Should be best place in town to eat but they can't seem to get there. Should be elegant dining but setting feels like a blue plate diner. Would love to see to see this place reach it's potential!

Had the opportunity to have a few meals here while attending a business meeting. Food was good overall and service was very attentive! Only complaint, which has been a problem since they opened, is that there is no ventilation in the buffet room where they also cook to order. I love the cook to order but I leave with my... More

We had breakfast at Preston's as part of a "package" while staying overnight at the Inn at Virginia Tech. We were disappointed in the hot side of the breakfast bar because eggs and meats were generally dried out from being on the warmers too long. The fruit side of the buffet was better with multiple offerings of fruits and yogurt.... More

Convenient breakfast spot when staying at the inn. It was a little pricey but at least the food was good.
