An unexpected gem in very rural southwest Virginia

Millstone is an unexpected gem in very rural southwestern Virginia and a lovely surprise. Great food, wines and cocktails with either indoor or outdoor seating. Not a huge menu but definitely a plate to please anyone.

Yea, when a place is great the deserve all the credit. My wife and I have probably eaten here 30 times since 2003, when we moved to Bedford. Yes it is a little pricey but it's worth it. Nina our server is just perfect, she caters to our every need. We were there on June 27, 2015. I had the... More

My wife and I were staying a Peaks of Otter Lodge for a reunion weekend and decided to look for a place to eat near Bedford the first night. Found this restaurant listed on tripadvisor with a good rating and decided to give it a try. Pulled up into the parking lot around 6pm with only one other car in... More

Overwhelming MUSTY & MOLD SMELL upon entering the door. The food was DELICIOUS but OVERPRICED for such SMALL PORTIONS. The trout & gnocchi & 2 iced teas + tip was $50. We left hungry. I would suggest bread or salad as part of the $ of the meal. Very tacky to have a nude painting over toilet in women's restroom.... More

A small quaint restaurant outside of Bedford Va that is worth the drive. A limited, but fine dining food caliber menu that features local vegetables, herbs, cheeses and made from scratch dishes. The menu changes seasonally. I have frequented occasionally and have never been disappointed. Recently a group of us visited to honor a retiring co-worker. The offerings were diverse... More

This will be a mixed review, I agree with some of the other reviews, and will explain. We had reservations and were greeted warmly and congratulated on our length of years! We did get a corner table as promised, and all three servers at some time during the evening helped, all very friendly. We hadn't been here before and that... More

Before I start, let me say that from the restaurant's perspective they are doing something right. We were there for and early dinner at 5.45pm, and the whole place was already packed, so I doubt that they are too concerned about reviews. Clearly everyone was happy, and we were too. But, we will not return because we actually left hungry,... More

We made reservations for two on a Thursday evening on a chilly January night. The fireplace in the restaurant was a welcome touch. This was our second visit to Millstone Tea Room ; we were so impressed with our first time that we decided to come back for a special birthday celebration. We started the meal with the pate, that... Worth the drive, this unassuming little cabin of a restaurant served one of the best Sunday brunch meals I have ever tasted! Fresh ingredients all prepared with love are the obvious features of this place. The appetizer size baguette with garlic and basil was incredible. The fresh rainbow trout was served atop cheese grits accompanied by steamed, seasoned fresh spinach. Absolutely... More
