Lovely place, dead at this time of year but menu didn't suffer. Good wine list, excellent food, friendly and efficient, if not polished service. No problem with gluten-free for the celiac member of our party. Very good cocktails, even on a quiet night. Portions a little large - a plus for some, we prefer smaller.

We absolutely love the fine dining restaurant. I know there is also food service in the pub, but we always go to the back for white glove dining. Service is impeccable and the food is oh-so-good. Menu changes frequently and lots of times depends on what is fresh and available. Well worth the higher tab.

This trip was the result of a "special invitation" to spend a day at the Hermitage Club at Haystack Mountain. The designated meeting place for the invitees and the days activities was at the Inn. The activities included a cross between a continental breakfast and full breakfast, lunch, afternoon snacks and drinks, and dinner, skiing, snowmobiling, skating, and cross country... More

Love the ambiance but the menu rarely changes and next to nothing healthy on the menu... forget about masking a reservation on a holiday weekend unless your a Hermitage member ...and that's not a cheap ticket

We have had brunch at the Hermitage in the past and love it. We decided to go again only to be hugely disappointed. They have change from an a la carte brunch to a buffet. When we arrived for our reservation they were unprepared, food was not in chaffing dishes, stations were not yet staffed and ready to go. Our... More

I had an outstanding meal at The Hermitage last weekend. What made this special is that I am on a restricted diet and -- because of a communications glitch -- the chef didn't hear about my diet until the morning of my dinner. When I arrived, I was presented with a menu that incorporated my restrictions. I've never experienced this... More

I am so glad we found this and would love to stay here next time we come. The grounds are beautiful and we were fortunate, since it was a slow night, to eat in the cozy Tavern. Food was great; service was fun. We came back the next day to see one of the world's largest collections of Michael Delacroix... More

Very nice country inn in southern Vermont with top notch restaurant. Chef is clearly one of the best in the region. Pumpkin soup, scallops, smoked pork chop, poached lobster were all fantastic. Food menu in my opinion should be expanded by some degree however wine list is extensive. We had a very nice sparkling Italian wine. Nice big tables with... More

Here on a Sunday evening - so fairly light on business. Food wonderfully prepared - interesting combinations, good use of fine ingredients. Substantial and great wine list. Lovely people and tremendously comfortable.

My wife and I REALLY wanted to like this place, we went 2 years ago and had a great lunch at the tavern. Since then it's been consistently downhill - tasteless food and average service and a loud bar are the norm. If you want a nice casual place with good food try the 1846 tavern in Dover instead. The... More
