You can have exceptional, top of the line fine dining quality food and still have a fun, relaxing evening too. At our house, no need to worry about talking too loud or using the wrong fork. Relax, eat, enjoy. Step through our 19th century doors and savor our 21st century legacy. We have eaten here the last 3 years for the Green Mountain Adventure Challenge. The tavern and connected inn act as a hub for the challenge, which is a lot of fun. The food has always been good. My husband's favorite was the lobster mac and cheese special. Every time we go, he hopes it's back. We have also had... More

Summer is the semi-off season for the Dover area, but you know a place is good when the locals drop by for food and drink. I had one of the best burgers I've ever had... wish I could have sampled more on the very interesting menu.

We recently dined at the 1846 Tavern. We were able to eat outside on a beautiful evening. The food was gourmet quality. They had a very nice wine list and the service was great.

Never had a bad or so-so meal here......always great, fine dining. Steak tips melt in your mouth and the scallops are awesome. Dine here and you'll be glad you did.

We enjoyed our dinner at the 1846 Tavern. The service was very good. Our waitress was new but very pleasant and worked hard to make sure we enjoyed our meal. Three of us ordered the Statler Chicken which was excellent. A nice chicken breast fried and served on a belgian waffle. Not something I typically order but decided for forgo... More

An absolute delight with wonderful food . The fresh smoked trout and corn fritters were amazing , as the fresh crab cakes. The presentation was first class.

The menu is a bit on the expensive side but they have some really great menu options. My boyfriend had a burger, it was "just a burger". I had a salmon BLT and it was good, but the aioli served with it lacked in flavor. A lot of the main entree dishes we saw pass by looked pretty delicious. The... More

Good food. Stopped by for a quick sandwich for dinner one night. Beef tip sandwich with blue cheese was amazing. Tried Wolavers Wildflower Wheat Beer and found another VT brew to love! Nice atmosphere that is casual and friendly. Good service and good food!
