I drove all the way from the Seacoast to check out what was listed as one of the top 20 diners to visit in New England...and I was NOT disappointed! Our waitress was a delight, and our breakfast was an absolute treat...best French toast I've had in years. The home-made hash was a real treat and the eggs benny was... More

I'm writing of an establishment that has been serving Brattleboro customers for 75 years, since 1939. It's a real diner ... do you know what that means? First of all, the main dining room is an original Worcester diner, shipped from its Massachusetts manufacturer on a railroad car. But 'diner' at its best has come to mean great 'home-cooked' -... My first stop here was a great experience. The service was pleasant, the atmosphere was lively, and the food was spot on.My most recent visit was terrible. The place was nearly empty and the waitress carried on about her personal life across the dining room to the other waitress. Eventually she forgot we were there. Once my order was taken,... More

Right on route 9 in Brattleboro is old fashioned Chelsea Royal Diner. In a low profile building with a dirt parking lot, the large neon sign in front welcomes. The diner dates from 1938 and has a main dining area and an upper area a few steps above. Stopping in for dinner on a fall weekend, we were quickly seated... More

We found this place on Google and were a bit dubious when we first saw the place from the outside. However, the staff were friendly and the food was great. It had a real old fashioned charm to the place. I really recommend a visit!

Great lunch in an old diner "car". Not great to look at outside, but really interesting menu choices. Locally sourced food, grass fed beef - yummy. CASH only. Friendly, happy waitstaff. Would be a top rating if they spent some time cleaning the inside of the restaurant. Of course, I would eat there again.

We have been here multiple times and always ordered the same things: Vermont cheddar and horseradish burger for him and the Reuben sandwich for her. Cash only so be prepared, but an ATM is onsite.

We had gotten stuck in a terrible traffic jam on Hwy 91 and couldn't wait to exit. After we FINALLY came to an exit for Brattleboro, we got off the highway and came upon Chelsea Royal Diner and needed lunch and a break from the traffic. It didn't look like much from the outside and the inside didn't look much... More

Visited after a long weekend visit to VT. Breakfast items and burgers were the popular choice for our group. Ate in diner car which added that real diner feel.

Bring your appetite. We've been there twice while leaf-peeping on our way to a concert. Not a diner aficionado but this place is great. A classic, old diner sitting in the middle of a dirt parking lot filled with cars from VT, NY, MA, NH, VA, PA. The waitresses really hustle and continually bring out plates mounded with steaming-hot food.... More
