We have been dining at this restaurant for many years. But I doubt we will return after our dinner in mid August, 2014. The ambiance and service were perfect, other than the muddy parking lot and a frustrating inability to read the menu without the flashlights on our iPhones. As a first course I ordered a small plate of beef... More

Wonderful setting along a small river and waterfall in an early 19th century mill building. A true “farm to table” restaurant. Limited but delicious menu. The “window box” table is really special! Artisan cheese selections are great.

Took 3 business contacts out on a Tuesday. The setting is excellent, though the entrance to the dining room is not obvious nor marked v clearly. Also if you have limitations on stairs you will not be able to enter at all. They keep the light way too dim and we all used cell phone flashlights to review the very... More

Fab atmosphere, local products cheeses. Creative cooking - excellent. However, mostly have to have a reservation. No much of a chance for walk-ins.

Horrible experience very overpriced for very small dull and uninspired portions. Heirloom tomatoes with a piece of sourdough bread and olive oil and herbs for $15 r u kidding me waitstaff brought the wrong wine 'poisson' that's chicken to the rest of us overly salted and awful Alaskan perch over cooked and dry this place is on a great setting... My husband and I had dinner here last night. It was thoroughly enjoyable. The location is unassuming from the parking lot, but once inside, the magic of Hen of the Wood begins. The dining room is beautiful, but when making our reservation, my husband requested a table on the patio. Our table on the patio tucked next to the waterfall... More

My husband and I have actually eaten twice at Hen in the Woods in Waterbury recently. I say actually because it is very hard to get a reservation! The first time we could only get a 9 PM booking, a week in advance. The second we got a few weeks later unexpectedly when there was a Saturday night cancellation. The... More

We'd heard wonderful things about this small-town trendy restaurant, but found it slightly disappointing. First, parking is a challenge, since the gravelled lot is often full of earlier-diners' cars, causing incoming guests to hover until someone leaves and you can zip into their space. The restaurant is on the lower floor of an old mill, and the steps going down... More

Recommended by a friend from work and while we weren't planning on stopping, we saw the sign and realized it was dinnertime, so why not? Old mill location, kind of in a residential area but still secluded in a lovely part of the neighbourhood. Terrific ambiance. This is not the sort of place where you order a single meal and... More
