Great discovery!!

We were just looking for simple dinner while stopping overnight in Waterbury. What a great surprise! Lucky they were able to seat us but I would strongly recommend you to reserved! Locally grown and all their produce are for farms in the area. Great wine list and great service! Strongly recommend!!

We absolutely loved this place. The set up is absolutely gorgeous and they welcome you in a nice, calm atmosphere. We absolutely loved the decor and the service was very kind and polite. Couldn't make up our minds so we ended up trying tons of small plates - which we thought was the best idea as it allowed up to... More

By far my favorite place to eat when up in this area! Not sure which is more fabulous, the ambiance or the fresh farm to table food. Make your reservation way in advance!

You need to plan in advance, but the online reservation system was very easy. The old mill building was built in 1807 and the interior beams looked like lincon logs. The ambiance was intimate and dark. One whole page of the menu was dedicated to VT cheese, listed from soft to hard. Our waiter was very knowledgable and guided us... More

I was staying over the mountain near Jeffersonville and made a reservation here because it is exactly the kind of restaurant I love: chef-owned with a focus on local, seasonal ingredients. My friend and I had a harrowing drive to get here -- and another harrowing drive back in pitch dark - but it was completely worth it. I loved... More

We had a delicious dinner at the Hen of the Wood in June 2015. We chose the special of the night which was pan seared redfish with a side spinach and tomato salad...perfect! A truly lovely venue with really delicious and fresh food, perfectly prepared and served!

Stepping down into the dining area - down a flight of stairs into the former basement of a working water powered mill - is just the first sensory experience you will enjoy. The restaurant is cozy, holding only a few dozen patrons. If you have a group of people, up to 10 or 12 I think, check and see if... More

Love this excellent restaurant! We have the best experience every time we visit. The food is delicious and always different and surprisingly colorful! Service is also incredible! Ambiance with the waterfall outside and the big windows inside are also a plus. So view, service, food and ambiance are the best… where can you find this all at once? I think... More

Went to Hen of the Woods for my husband's birthday and was wondering if it would live up to the hype. It totally did. The rolls with radish butter were amazing, our entrees were awesome as well. Great seasonal menu, beer on tap and wine. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and wait staff as well.

was recommended as great fine dining in the area and it filled the bill! Seasonal menu which is locally resourced. Had leek soup which was great along with the vegetarian "crepe" which was amazing. Wines were very good. Service was "off the hook" good. Will definitely return when in the area.
