Never dissapoints

This is my second trip to the Peasant and not my last! Each time the menu changes based on what's in season and locally sourced. This past visit I thoroughly enjoyed a Sicilian Shrimp over rice dish that was phenomenal. It was extremely spicy, as we were forewarned, but unlike most establishments... read more

The ambiance is cozy. On a Monday night there was a guitarist/singer doing pop covers as a nice backdrop to delicious food. We had the cassoulet and the special beef ragout with the Peasant salad (this item could be a bit more interesting) and the honey chocolate cake. Love the option of a Ridge wine from the wine list. C... More

We visited Peasant with our young family after reading a review in a magazine in New Zealand. We were not disappointed the food was delicious. Our young kids were disappointed at first that there was no "kids menu" we ordered them the meatballs and they were the best they had ever tasted! The service was great and the food was... More

For years I had heard wonderful things about Peasant but only recently stopped in for dinner and confirmed what everyone says: it's a warm and welcoming, family-friendly restaurant with seriously good comfort food (my personal favorite). I sat at the bar for my solo meal, and the bartender, who happens to be the owner's daughter, was so passionate about her... More

Very nice restaurant close to Sugarbush. I had the lamb ragou and my GF had the chicken marsala. I also tried the Spaetzle which missed the mark. Not your typical spaetzle by any stretch. Nice atmosphere and service. With drinks came to about $100. Would go back.

I dined Christmas Eve so perhaps this wasn't the usual night to judge. My salad was just lettuce. Good, but perhaps a cup with a light dressing and expensive. Nothing special. I had the salmon dish and was disappointed to not see traditional turkey or ham for the holidays. It was good but very plain and simple over greens. No... More

We're sorry to hear you weren't satisfied with your visit to Peasant. The mixed salad is mesclun greens with a house made dressing for $6, sorry if you thought that price was high, but we source the highest quality mesclun mix for our Peasant Salad. A traditional Christmas Eve meal in an Italian American household does not include turkey or... More

Group of 5 for dinner, where 4 different meals were selected as the entree. Everyone of them was outstanding. The service was very attentive. The chef even came out to visit us and ask us what we thought of one of the dishes, which he had just developed the night before. He was trying to decide whether or not to... More

Oh my, don't miss stopping here if you're in Vermont! My husband and I have been in Waitsfield several times before and have enjoyed Mint for its vegetarian cuisine and tea selection. However, this time we wanted to sample a different menu. We met the owner/cook by happenstance outside the restaurant and he convinced us to come back for the... More

Went to the Sugarbush area after many years expecting to visit our favorite restaurants but they were all closed during stick season. Our hotel suggested Peasant WOW what a treat. Nice ambiance and a warm welcome. The Brussels sprouts salad was delicious and the sautéed calamari was one of the best I ever have eaten. My wife had the salmon... More
