Great place for drinks and dinner and well worth the visit. Definitely make reservations, it is a small cozy place. Menu is excellent but limited.

I have been twice to this restaurant. Second time we sat at the bar: I really liked that. That is a good choice if you happen to go without a reservation. Service is extremely friendly. Menu is limited but that makes all the choices very fresh. The daily pate was very good in both my visits. The chocolate cake is... More

Joined a few friends to ski MRG for the "Bullseye" snow of 22+ inches on Thursday! March 13th and by the time we were ready for dinner he suggested we try the Peasant. Wow, from the moment we walked in the service was very cordial and found us a table in the bar area. The waitress was. Colleen the daughter... More

It may have been sub-zero outside, but upon stepping through the curtain (thermal), inside Peasant was immediately warm and inviting. The menu was far from typical and offered an intersting selection of Stew, Ragu and other hearty winter warmers. We began with a Farro Risotto (which the waitress explained very well). My wife then had the Beef Ragu which was... More

Peasant is a warm and inviting space, and when the food started to arrive it just got better. We began with a creative salad of shaved celeriac, which perhaps could have used a bit more dressing, but the fresh crunchy flavors were unusual and wonderful. For main courses we had a pork shank Osso Buco, and a Pork Ragu over... More

My friends and I took a weekend trip up to Vermont and we were fortunate to have been able to snag a table without calling ahead for a reservation. Everyone there was very friendly, accommodating and welcoming. Great wine selection and the menu...there wasn't a dish on that menu that you could go wrong with. I had the Chicken Marsala... More

Four of us went recently for Valentine's Day and we were very pleased. Everything was excellent and unique from the hot apple cider to the chocolates when we paid the bill. The wines weren't terribly over priced like American Flatbread. The food was superb as well as the service. We will definitely go again if we can get a reservation... More

My wife and I finally made it to Peasant last Saturday night after having received high praise from local folk. We are winter weekend warriors from the Boston area who have made the Mad River Valley our winter escape for over 15 years. The valley has seen many good restaurants come and go (it seems mostly "go") over the last... More

What a treat! The food is fresh, fabulous and elegant. They are very accommodating to dietary preferences and desires. Vegan/vegetarian included. Highly recommend the sensational salmon with maple balsamic glaze, duck ragout as well. Reasonable prices for this level of quality. Will definitely return.

Excellent. Good service, great food, wonderful setting, (not cheap). If you have a picky eater, which we do, he/she may be frustrated. Menu not exhaustive or meant for small children, but what they offer is very good.
