Steered here by locals

I was going to a concert at nearby Spruce Peak on a perfect day. Saw some locals sitting out in sun at Harvest Market and asked for a tip. "Go to Matterhorn, sit on the back deck on the water, grab a burger and beer, or the Sushi - it's valid!" Got there, sat outside next to stream. Chatted... read more

Sit in a booth by the river when you go to the Matterhorn for dinner. It is so beautiful to watch the snow fall on the river. The food is great and the atmosphere, so Stowe. Sushi is not served on Mon or Tues. so I had a delicious pesto chicken and red pepper pizza. Service was ok. Prices are... More

Came on a recommendation from locals for apres ski! It was a solid choice! It was a great party atmosphere at 4 in the afternoon and the food was surprisingly good. Better than your typical pub fair by a long shot!

Apparently it isn't normally very quiet, but it was on this Sunday evening of Memorial Day weekend. The service was exceptional and food very good. It's not fancy but the fish tacos, salads, lobster mac and cheese, burger and pizza ordered by our group of five adults and three kids suited us well. Positives: pool tables and a few video... More

We go every season. Good selection of wood-fired Pizza, and plenty of beer to wash it down with. Not much on boutique ambiance, but who wants that at a slope side tavern?

A great place to wind down after a long day. Food was excellent, lots of great beers and beverages, staff very friendly, pool tables and TV's to watch the game all in a very rustic setting. Fantastic location overlooking the river with an outdoor area for better viewing. Would definitely recommend to anybody in the Stowe area. A+

We showed up at the front desk and a server called from across the room, “sit anywhere.” Our server promptly brought over menus and took our drink order. After she delivered our drinks, she disappeared and never returned. We noticed her futzing around at the kitchen window pass-through with the food frequently, but she totally ignored us for the rest... More

Love the Matterhorn for lunch or dinner. The location is great. I love to sit in the room overlooking the river. The main room also hosts live music often, and there is a good sized bar. The sushi and dumplings are my go-to here, but they also have a variety of other good food options. The service, like many places... More

We are a large group of people (24) and we are often turned down by restaurants in Stowe. It's really annoying but this past trip, Jeremy made sure that we were taken care of at the Matterhorn. He is a great waiter and bar tender. We ended up going there 4 times during the week.

We ate diner at the Matterhorn with our family. the trick to doing this with children is to set a 7:00 reservation. The Apres ski band is done and the evening band does not start till later. So the big crowds had cleared out. The food is average pub food. The casual atmosphere puts you deep into the laid back... More

Hi Neil, It is undeniable that The Matterhorn has one of the top sushi chefs in the Northeast. He graduated from The South Korean Traditional cooking school and improved his sushi skills working in Japan, Russia, Germany and The UAE. He was the top sushi chef at Neta's ( rival of Nobu's) in NYC when we hired him. Obviously a chef of his skills will only work in a profeshional kitchen with top ingredients. Our pizzas are made from scratch and cooked in a wood fired oven the way they do it in Italy. We wouldn't even consider a convection oven. Our wings might be the best in the USA. Our steaks and burgers are all angus beef. My wife personally expedited all the food yesterday which feed over 600 customers. None of it took longer than 25 minutes. Our servers are the most highly paid in Stowe so we get the cream of the crop. I have owned The Matterhorn 17 years and we have always had a modest cover charge whenever we have a full band. We have a season pass to our live entertainment which costs $25 so that you will not have to pay any cover charges. We believe that establishments that don't charge covers for full bands or give away food are really just pleading to get customers in and embarrass themselves in our business community. . We have Greg Allman's son Michael performing here on Jan 16th along with Grammy award wining Charles Neville and award winning guitartist Jeff Pitchell. I can assure you that my wife and I couldn't be more proud of how The Matterhorn has evolved and of all the great people that frequent it. We find your comments both unfounded and hurtful.
