A Bit of Nostalgia

Way cool ! I last went into Depot street Malt shoppe in 1999 when I was last in Stowe, and it was awesome. I remember it like it was yesterday. I had a real burger, real banana milkshake and some fine home cooked fries. It was awesome. The food was great. The 50s decor, the dukebox.. I loved it and... More

This place is exactly what I picture the Soda Shops of the '40's and 50's would have been like. It's got that great vibe of casual and yet nostalgia that I love. Always order my sundae with too many toppings but I'm always accommodated and I always want to lick the glass! This is not to be missed and you... More

Popped in for a quick lunch. All had either a panini or a toastie. Food was quick and tasty. Loved the theme. Service was good. Would definitely come back.

The Depot Street Malt Shop in Stowe is a sweet place for KIDS (and adults). The music, the decor and the menu are all reminiscent of the American Graffiti 50's. The fountain counter has swivel stools with mirrors and an old Coca Cola machine. It is the best after school, lunch, and dinner spot for in town treats. The menu... More

The Malt Shop has a traditional ice cream shop décor, and offers malts, a variety of ice creams, and the typical ice cream treats. There is a decent menu of sandwiches, salads, and the like, at lunchtime, with pleasant outdoor seating on good days. Service was friendly and prompt, There are some vegetarian alternatives, and 50s music plays in the... More

We've visited this place just about every year over the 4th weekend. this year did not impress me much. the food was bland. they no longer take credit cards (but reimburse an ATM fee which is just not customer friendly to make them go through the extra effort). Service was pretty decent.

A nice little stop, largely because they have malted milkshakes (SO hard to find now) and make them well. Food are fine, servers are very nice and attentive. Clean place, fun atmosphere. The menu is as you would expect for the concept - burgers, grilled cheese, chicken fingers, etc. - and I think I'd score it higher if the prices... More

What fun, going to an old fashioned malt shop with diner type food but delicious shakes and ice cream. Friendly staff, even though they were super crowded and busy, great location. Once in downtown, you can walk here from anywhere.

Quaint, but small booths and felt crowded. Burgers were burnt black, situation was addressed and rectified by waitress. Chicken Panini was burnt too. Food was average at best. Bananas split was disappointing...no butterscotch sauce and smaller than expected when menu suggests sharing with others. Nice idea, but didn't really pull it off. Prices were reasonable. Would not suggest if you... More
