This is a lovely little independent coffee shop. The service is excellent, and the staff are friendly and attentive. The tea/coffee selections are very nice - tending towards local/artisanal creations, which I love. The baked goods include some excellent gluten free choices every day, which is another big plus for me. They are invariably delicious! Seating is spacious, comfortable and... More

Right in downtown Stowe . . . lots of seating with several spots on the front porch and front windows. They have a nice selection of both coffee and tea and they were quite good. Also a nice assortment of tasty treats. It was a welcome spot to see on a rainy day.

I wanted to like the local coffee shop. The location is neat and the interior is nicely appointed with comfortable couches, etc. However, one comes to a coffee shop for the coffee. My cup was not particularly good (medium roast) and their labeling system looks as if someone opened a thesaurus of coffee terms and spewed them out. It was... More

I visited Stowe on vacation and was looking for a coffee shop in the area and I happened upon the Black Cap Coffee shop. I'm very glad I found this place! The maple lattes are amazing and they use real local maple syrup in them. I was also able to get my latte with almond milk which was great for... More

Coffee: The coffee is pretty decent. I went 2-3 times while there and my drinks were always delicious. Staff: Unless you're a local, you pretty much don't exist. They don't say hello, they don't ask if they can help you with something, they don't ask for your money, they pretty much stare at you and say nothing. Pretty awkward and... More

Atmosphere is off, the staff is awkward and doesn't seem to know what they are doing, and the food is awful.

Coffee is a bit hit and miss when it comes to taste. Here you can have it as you want it. I like mine like I can get in Europe and here it is great. Add in the wonderful pastries and I am transported back to a wonderful place. The baristas have the attitude I have come to expect in... More

The staff at Black Cap cannot keep up the pace & it's quite frustrating when you're on your way to work & you're stuck in line for 20 minutes waiting. The attitude of the staff is pretty lukewarm too which makes it an even more bitter pill to swallow. Last gripe; no vegetarian sandwiches. In 2014 it's pretty unusual to... More

Nothing quite as gloomy as deferred Spring in Vermont: stacks of tired, dirty snow, fog, sleet, freezing rain....awful...and then, right on Main Street (Rte 100) in Stowe village is the oasis also known as Black Cap Coffee. Expansive seating, wider variety of beverages, and some truly awsome pastries. Not quite transported to the tropics, but a delightful interlude. Friendly helpful... More
