The burgers are a little smaller then I remember them but between the burger and fries it is a great place for a meal in a classic looking diner. The one big disappointment is the chicken sandwich that costs $5 and has 2 small chicken fingers as your meal. Pretty unsatisfying there but besides that great milk shakes, burgers and... More

Really enjoyed my dinner here. Classic hot dog and fries (friend had corn dog and fries) and a yummy chocolate shake. Hard to beat a $6 meal, walking distance from your hotel. Love the 50s feel, music playing and classic set up.

I went here once while I was at UVM and don't remember being too excited about it. We came here on July 28th after we flew into BTV and really liked it. The fries were excellent and the burgers were basic, but great. We enjoyed it so much that we came back again two days later to get a larger... More

Great food, good set-up, cute place. Kids loved it! Loved the Philly cheese steak and fries. Busy at times.

Great fries. Excellent creamies (soft serve). This place is popular! Had a grilled chicken sandwich, too. But the star here are those fries.

Great fries, it had been 30+ years since I'd been to Al's for fries. They are the same, delicious and plenty. Great prices for food, lots of places to sit. Good music playing. Al's is efficient with the order/pickup process. A Must Do in South Burlington.

We stumbled on this restaurant after nixing another one that had poor reviews. If you are looking for giant burgers, this probably isn't your kind of place. But if you want a great tasting burger in a retro environment , it can be the place for you. I would definitely opt for double patties in the burgers since the bun... More

My husband and I loved Al's. We were here on business and stumbled on it. They have a simple set up--burgers, hot dogs, grilled cheese, chili etc. The restaurant is clean-ish and when we arrived at lunch time, we took one look at the line and went "uh oh," but the line moved along very quickly and there is a... My family and I weren't too hungry, but we knew we had to stop at Al's. The menu is really good for this type of stop. The burgers and minute steaks are not overwhelming. People generally get a couple in one sitting, but one was perfect for me then. Everyone could get just the right amount and very tasty.

Its not everyday you stumble on a place this cool. Its a burger dog and fry joint with a 50s setting. The prices are really cheap, the servings are huge and the foods excellent. They have a cashier whos more of a host that walks you through the menu. 3 of us ate for under $20 and we couldnt finish... More
