My wife and I booked our monthly "date night" dinner at Cafe Shelburne recently -- simply because she had received a gift certificate from one of her students. Our meals were simply outstanding. They were unique recipes with complex flavors that took full advantage of the flavors available in local products. For a starting course, I had a lentil salad... More

My wife and I returned to Cafe Shelburne after not having frequented it in many years. Our memories of it have always been extremely positive. With the new ownership, we wondered what our experience would be like. We were NOT disappointed! Our entrees were expertly prepared and pleasing to both the eye and palate. The atmosphere, we were delighted to... More

This had always been the neighborhood "go to" for an excellent meal. It's been under new management for maybe the past 6 months and we were anxious to try it. We went on a Sunday night so maybe a substitute chef is the issue here, but the food was incredibly salty. I mean, beyond fast food salty. And it wasn't... More

We arrived at the restaurant at around 6:15 pm and were seated immediately. There are 3 quaint and intimate rooms beautifully decorated. The wait staff was prompt and courteous explaining the menu and the specials for the evening. I had monk fish served on a bed of lettuce. It was accompanied by a dish of rice. The fish was perfectly... More

This is more a fancy occasion place in my opinion, but very good at what it does. If you don't like fancy french food then pass it by. But a favorite of ours on anniversaries, etc.

This is a genuine French restaurant, in a Vermont town of only some 6,000 folks. The owners are there every day and they bring a warm, openess to the restaurant. It is a bit pricey, but that is by Vermont standards, and so my wife and I reserve at special occassions, though we live 5 minutes away in Shelburne. Cafe Shelburtne... More

Delicious food, excellent staff and a cozy atmosphere make Cafe Shelburne a classic. If you love tomato soup this is a must, homemade with goat cheese and croutons. The best entree is the steak tartare it is outstanding but be forewarned it is very rich. You may want to rethink it if you are having dessert. The pork and scallops... More

Delicious food and wonderful staff! I had scallops which were cooked to perfection, delicious salad, and a very good wine. The homemade sorbets were interesting and a great end to a fabulous dinner. The atmosphere is quiet, warm, and very comfortable.

Mixed reviews. The atmosphere was comfortable and classy without being pretentious in any way. The appetizers were very good even if a bit rich. I had the escargot which was delicious. My husband had a mushroom puff pastry which was well prepared and tasty. The entrees left a lot to be desired. The vegetables were overcooked. The food was exceptionally... More

We took our niece out for a special meal to celebrate her graduation from UVM. We were all enthralled with our selections. Escargot, mushroom tart, steak tartar, gnocchi, duck. Special, special, special. Great service, too.
