Great sliced cold cuts (turkey was excellent) and ready made sandwiches, Staff particularly helpful. Get a few truffle chocolate chip cookies "for the car." Been in business for 50-years, which should say something!

Stopped here late Saturday evening at closing time. They waved us in and took our order with a smile. Very friendly, welcoming and clean. Hoagies were good too. Generous portions. Reasonably priced. Had the spicy meats (like an Italian) and roast beef.

This place is a bit off the beaten track, but still downtown and definitely worth finding. Excellent grinders made (quickly!) to order. Consistent and clean - lots of take-out orders but pleasant seating also available.

It was lunch time, we were in the area, this place had great reviews. So we had lunch. It was as good as all the reviews. I especially liked that there were no less than 5 folks making the sandwiches AND keeping the wait time short. We aren't likely to be in the area again anytime soon, but we'd stop... More

We have been eating at Gill's since 1969 and have never had a grinder that was not fantastic. In 1969 we lived in Rutland and ate at Gill's at least weekly. Now we live away and can only have Gill's when we visit. We do go to Gill's every time we are in Rutland. Over the years we have eaten... More

Such a fun place to go. Huge selection of grinders. Hot Italian is my favorite. This place has been in Rutland for over 50 years.

I love that they use shredded cabbage instead of lettuce. The bread is fresh and good. The service is accommodating and friendly. This is a good, solid local eatery. It won't knock your socks off, but it won't disappoint, either.

Gill's is always a "must visit" stop for me when visiting my family in Vermont. In July, before returning to my home south of Tucson, I ordered three giant hot meat grinders with the works and extra oil. Two I took on the plane home and one was shared with my mother. They, as expected, were fabulous. The special oil... More

Since this is the #1 restaurant in Rutland, we expected an amazing sub. It was good - certainly better than Subway, but not great. (Actually, I think the Subway bread is better). I had a mini chicken salad sub - which was still huge and a great value. Others in our group had Italian cold cuts and salami. Italian cold... More

I tried Gill's for the first time this week as I had a business trip to Rutland. I pulled into Rutland at lunch time and decided to check out TripAdvisor for restaurant listings. Gill's was the first one on the list, so I thought I'd try it. After reading a few reviews, I decided on the Mini roast beef grinder.... More
