I am a born and raised Vermonter and if you live here or ever visited here you know about our famous Gills grinders. They are the absolute best in the states(yes all of them). I know people-some family members included who have moved away and ask me to send them a gills grinder or if they visit its the first... More

This is my favorite sandwich shop ever! The sandwiches are to die for Homemade bread, really nice sub oil and I always get a generous helping of turkey with just the right amount of Swiss cheese and shredded cabbage and pickles s&p and extra oil!!! I could eat at gills everyday it's so good!! The service has always been good... More

Since we had been planning a trip to Rutland to take care of a matter, I decided to check out restaurants on tripadvisor. Gill's popped up and I read some reviews. I saw a review from a friend of my niece who makes an hour drive regularly for a sub from Gill's. Since the wife and I like trying local... More

I love Gill's grinders (subs). The hot meat grinder with oil not mayo is the ultimate! I try to get to Gill's every time I get into the Rutland area. My daughter even ordered a grinder to be delivered to Maryland, and it was just as good! It is a deli, not fine dining. I prefer to carry out for... More

Gill's has been around for 50 years and you can't get a better sub anywhere. Always well staffed and always busy. Love going to Rutland so I can go to Gill's.

I live in California, but my wife's family is from Rutland so we visit from time to time. I never fail to go to Gill's at least once. I've almost always had the "hot meats" grinder, but a sister-in-law swears by the roast beef. It almost seems silly to say this is one of the best grinders in New England.... More

I came to this restaurant because it was #1 for Rutland on tripadvisor. I was not super impressed - the sandwiches are a little bland in my opinion. Very plain bread, not many topping choices (although I liked the cabbage instead of lettuce) and the meats were just ok. Not much seating inside either. I just don't understand this being... More

Every time we go to Gill's we are welcomed and receive great service. They give us what we want on our sandwiches, grinders, etc and they are always ready to help. I am often there with my family and that includes kids. They will help me take my food to the register and/ or the table because they see that... More

Great sliced cold cuts (turkey was excellent) and ready made sandwiches, Staff particularly helpful. Get a few truffle chocolate chip cookies "for the car." Been in business for 50-years, which should say something!

Stopped here late Saturday evening at closing time. They waved us in and took our order with a smile. Very friendly, welcoming and clean. Hoagies were good too. Generous portions. Reasonably priced. Had the spicy meats (like an Italian) and roast beef.
