Roots consistently provides the most fine dining experience in Rutland City. Chef Donald's commitment to sourcing local foods makes them king of th city. I recommend reservation for one of Rutland's finest dining experiences.

We were looking for a new restaurant experience away from Killington and one that provided a unique "feel" to celebrate a friend's birthday. We really enjoyed Roots...service was good, menu offered something for every taste and the food was nicely presented. They have a good selection of wines. The restaurant is rather small so make a reservation. Enjoyable evening!

We had been to Roots once before and decided to go back with friends on a recent visit to Vermont. We were not disappointed. We were a party of six and were lucky enough to have to wait for a few minutes at the bar. The Bartender was friendly and informative and made two of us a tremendous cocktail fashioned... More

This small restaurant has been highly touted but the food was somewhat off-beat such as emu steak. I'm just not into that! My entree was just warm although my husband said his was great. Mine had little flavor. Don't think I will go back.

Nice atmosphere, casual, menu was entertaining. Portions were somewhat smaller than expectation. A place to stop occasionally.

Found this place via online search and so so glad we decided to go here. It will be our place for food whenever we are back in town. The fondue was to die for. Seriously, you HAVE to get it! My entree was equally as amazing! The service was excellent. A smaller restaurant, but it what makes it perfect! I'd... More

Real food from locally sourced farms at reasonable prices. Absolutely cute dining room and brand. They had a great wine selection and loved the pulled pork sandwich and fries - the best we've ever had!

After being told to try this place from a few people we did. First the place is direly small and we felt that all of our fellow diners were staring at each other. Was a bit hard to get comfortable with some of the locals yelling in the place. There is only one bathroom so a bit of a line.... More
