Our waiter was awesome and chatted us up, nice change from the service in NYC. Place was kind of hippie-ish and down to earth, we heard a lot of 90's tunes. Food and drinks were excellent, delicious and fresh. Place was near-empty when we went, which was really nice for us but I was surprised that a gem like this... More

My husband and I went here for lunch. It is a small restaurant but very nice. The menu is small but has a great selection! I got the fish tacos and I loved them! My husband got a burger and he liked it as well. It was a great little place!

The first thing that strikes you is the atmosphere. I may have been sitting three feet away from a street I have walked on for decades but after only being inside a few minutes was whisked away to a place where memories are created. The staff was knowledgable about the both the food and the wine, and their pleasant dispositions... More

Roots was new to us after being to Rutland 3 times before. The town seems to improve each time we visit the Paw House in West Rutland and Roots is one of the best things to happen to Rutland. If you are looking for fine dining with outdoor space to bring your dogs along, this is the place, The service... More

Great little restaurant with a very fresh and interesting menu. We ordered the cheese board--there were really good selections of local cheeses, pesto and pepper jelly. The gnocchi and emu sausage entree sounds a little odd, but it was just delicious. If I were to go back to the area, I'd just order that over and over again! Also, gracious... More

We have a second home in Killington and consistently travel to Rutland to eat at Roots. It's on a quiet side street but the place is very "city cool" and offers a wide variety of very fresh, well prepared food. You can also make reservations, which is nice. The fondue and specials are always on our priority list. The staff... More
