This was an unexpected gem we found while enjoying a farm vacation! Tucked in the tiny town is this really cool bookstore café. The shop is in an old home, where each room houses a different theme of books and crafts and gifts. The food in the café is fresh and fantastic. They offer an interesting menu of sandwiches and... Sandy's Books and Bakery is a wonderful spot for book and food lovers. We have visited it several times on our way to or from destinations far from home. The food is super-fresh, nothing is baked from frozen or mixed ahead of time, and it really makes a difference. My husband had the curried chicken sandwich, I had the melted... More

We passed this spot and expected a small, little coffee shop from the outside, but boy were we wrong. Sandy's has an extensive breakfast and lunch menu, homemade pastries (I'd recommend the asiago & dill bagels) and a collection of beer and wine as well. The cozy eating area has you surrounding by books. We could've sat there for days.... More

Well, my fiance' and I were on our annual pilgrimage to Rochester VT last weekend and, as always, we had to make our schedule work around a couple of hours spent at Sandy's... and not just once, but 3 different days. For starters, they have the best coffee for miles around. Secondly, the baked goods will NEVER disappoint. All items... More

Of course it's slow service - it's fresh made food - and it's Vermont! :). This is the best food, the best atmosphere and the staff are warm and welcoming. Fantastic coffee with full barista service with a fresh made cake or scone is a must. And of course find that new or old book to take back to cozy... More

Meandering along the Fall Foliage trail we stopped off in Rochester, Vermont for a comfort break and a cup of coffee. Of the places on offer we plumped for Sandy's, it had a funky vibe. The book section is a myriad of rooms that feels like you are in a maze! All routes end at the cafe and you can... More

Best latte we had in the small town of Rochester, VT. They also had yummy looking breads and baked goods...lots of vegan choices.

The food is yummy and wholesome and the porch and garden are lovely but service is always somewhat disorganized and slow and prices quite high. The place if cosy and funky and people friendly. it combines food and a book store so nice place to browse.

We came in right about at closing time on Saturday night. We were greeted by Fran who made us feel incredibly welcome and encouraged us to stay while they completed their 'soft closing' for the day. Fran made wonderful suggestions for us, served it with the most delicious rye bread (baked there) and recommended their sun tea- which I was... More
