Famous for it's hearty comfort food, the East Side offers fine dining on the shores of beautiful Lake Memphremagog. When you're traveling, nothing hits the spot better than a homemade buttermilk biscuit with chicken, gravy, real mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce. If you have room for the bake shops, dessert of the month, you'll know why the East Side has been a Newport, VT favorite for years. The Dancing Sail Banquet Room's elegant waterfront dining room and terrace open onto a garden courtyard to create the ideal setting for a story book Vermont wedding. On a downhill slide...

I've lived around here for 3 years and the Eastside used to be one of my favorite places to go. Keywords: used to. I stopped by for alittle of the Seafood Bisque and ended up ordering a bowl, which is a meal in itself. It was lukewarm, the scallops were over cooked and rubbery, the lobster was... read more

We live in this area and I avoid this restaurant whenever possible. Each time has been a disappointment (it was for a family event so no choice). One time we waited over 2 hours waiting for the waitress to take our orders then another hour to get our food! (the was practically no one else in the restaurant either...don't understand)... More

I've been eating at the Eastside for the last 3 years, at least several times a year. They have some tasty dishes like the Steak Salad and Seafood Bisque. However, the menu is always the same. The salad bar is always the same. And the customers are geriatric, so it's like an upscale Denny's, kind of. I'm not saying the... More

Our previous experience with Newport has been minimal. Just a stop for a gas fill up on our way to Quebec. On a recommendation from someone in Jeffersonville (on vacation at Smugglers Notch)we took the drive up. Very glad we did. I had the shrimp risotto which was delicious and perfect. My husband had the ground pork burger which he... More

A rest stop on our way home and just lucked onto this cute spot for supper. We all enjoyed the wide, healthy and delicious salad bar selection. Everything was market fresh with no artifical flavors. I will definately return on my way to or from the USA via Stanstead border again. More to explore in Newport also....!

Been to The Eastside many times and will likely continue to go many more, but this last visit was not so good. I mean why try to pass Fish Chowder off as Clam Chowder- it's not! And not even good Fish Chowder at that. So I also tried the Ultimate BLT- - ultimately the bacon was cooked many hours before... More

Eating on the deck on a nice day cannot be better: pleasant view on the lake and the mountains, tables not too close to each other, umbrellas for the sun. You cannot say that the food is imaginative but it is a nice American menu and what they make, they make it well. We were there twice this summer. Once... More

My wife loves hash, I'd never given it a thought... but she said this place had the best and now I'm hooked. It's also a great place to have lunch or dinner, they also have a gift shop with a bakery that will have you leaving with something else.

We have stopped here for lunch on 3 occasions as it is superbly located when driving to Quebec City. If the weather is nice, try and sit on the deck. The views of the lake and boats is great. Food is mostly pub style. Entree salads are large, fresh, and seasonal. Sandwiches are Vermontly creative usually using cranberries. Service is... More
